    Do butterflies like this plant

    Answer This Question

Hi Robert Thanks for asking! Yes butterflies and other pollinators are attracted to Lo & Behold® 'Blue Chip Jr.' Butterfly Bush. With a super tidy habit, small overall size, and non-invasive status, you truly can put it in any garden role! It fills a container nicely, makes a super low maintenance edging, and feels right at home in any water wise garden. It blooms early in summer and keeps going until the last breaths of fall, without any need to deadhead. It quickly grows to its mature size, filling in holes in the garden and reliably providing food for pollinators. Deer like butterfly bush

      Answer This Question

Hi Philj Thanks for asking! Lo & Behold® 'Blue Chip Jr.' Butterfly Bush is deer resistant. However, even “deer-resistant” does not mean it’s “deer-proof.” Deer will eat just about anything if they are hungry enough. You may want to try using a deer repellent such as PlantSkydd around the perimeter of your yard to keep deer away from your plants. I have provided links to our deer resistant selections as well as our blog about deer resistant plants. https://provenwinnersdirect.com/collections/all?pf_t_features=Resists+Deer https://provenwinnersdirect.com/blogs/garden-resource-center/deer-resistant-plants As always, please feel free to reach out to us at any time with any plant questions or concerns. Would bees be an issue if planted in the front yard close to the porch?

        Answer This Question

Hi msdiy, Thanks for your inquiry! The Lo & Behold 'Blue Chip' Jr. displays fragrant blue/purple flowers all summer. It attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds while resisting deer. It's the perfect small shrub for anywhere in the garden. This shrub will reach 1.5-2 feet tall and wide at maturity, thrives within zones 5-9 and requires full sun (at least 8 hours) per day. Prune in spring, after the new growth emerges. The warmer your climate, the more you should cut back your butterfly bush each spring. Left unpruned, large butterfly bushes can become “second story” plants: their flowers form way up at the top so you can’t enjoy them unless you have a second-story window. I recommend planting this shrub at least a few feet away from the porch area if you wish, but bees should not be an issue. Bees as a general rule, are not aggressive unless they feel threatened, and will leave humans alone if they are left alone :) Please contact us with questions at helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com, via phone at 855-797-5268, or chat with us online. how fast will the bush grow
          ByMay 3, 2023
          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

Butterfly bush is known for its rapid growth, up to two feet in height per year or more. It can reach its mature size in just one or two growing seasons. This shrub option is low maintenance, only requiring annual pruning in late winter to encourage spring blooms and maintain a compact shape. Prune in spring, after the new growth emerges. The warmer your climate, the more you should cut back your butterfly bush each spring. Left unpruned, large butterfly bushes can become “second story” plants: their flowers form way up at the top so you can’t enjoy them unless you have a second-story window. I understand, this time of year the bush will not have any leaves or flowers and will ship as pictured, bare. Does this lose all leaves and flowers each year in the off season from November - April?

I think it depends where you are located. In northern FL it does NOT lose all of its leaves.

Hello, thank you for contacting us. We are happy to help! Our Blue Chip Jr goes into dormancy during the cold months (usually November-April depending on where you live) meaning it will lose its foliage and blooms during that time. I hope this helps! The Blue Chip Jr. Butterfly Bush came in with dead leaves that fell off after I took it out of the box. There was a very small root that also looked dead. I will attach a photo of what the plant looks like today. Still looks dead.

Hi Sarah ~ Thank you for your review. We are sorry your order did not meet your expectations. We guarantee that all plants are healthy and vigorous when they leave our greenhouse. However, as living things, plants always have the potential to become stressed or damaged during shipping. The good news is that this is almost always only a cosmetic issue, that does not impact a plant’s overall health, because they have a strong root system. Please email us at helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com and provide us your order number along with photos of the damaged plants. We look forward to hearing from you.

                        Disappointed
I couldn’t wait for the plants to deliver. When they did I opened up the box the next morning and planted. Needless to say, it was not what I expected. One plant may not make it and the other 3 are hanging on. I went ahead and planted them to see if I can revive them. I will NEVER but plants via delivery again

Two of the four plants look healthy and ready to go. The other two should not have left the nursery. One attached leaf between them and its not like the fell off in transit I found just a few loose ones in the container. Terrible cost to benefit ratio.
