Can these be set up to operate from a switch instead of everyday at sundown?
These particular lights are automatic only.
I ordered these from Home Depot and was so excited when they came and that was in August. I've gone out several times at night and they don't light up. Am I suppose to put a battery in them? My other solar lights in the same area all light up at night.

These lights come with (2) AA 1.2V 600mAh Ni-Mh, please make sure to put these in the unit and allow them to charge in order for your solar post cap to light up. If you already have batteries in the post cap try these steps to troubleshoot: - Check the batteries to make sure they are making secure contact with the terminal. - Make sure the batteries are in correctly (+/-) - Be sure the solar fixture is in a relatively sunny location. - Make sure the light’s photocell is not affected by other light. If you are still having trouble please reach out to customer service, all our products are covered by a 1 year manufacturer's warranty.
What is the purpose of the little round plastic-covered hole in the "roof" of this pagoda post cap?
The small plastic hole is a sensor that detects sunlight, which will automatically turn the fixture on at night and off during the day.
I believe it’s the eye to detect when sunlight when it gets Dark !
That is the "dusk to dawn" sensor.
Will these caps fit over a post sleeve?
Hello Randy, The 4x4 Ambience post cap is designed to fit over an actual 3.5x3.5 and actual 4x4 post. If the outside diameter of your post sleeve is either an actual 3.5x3.5 or actual 4x4, the Ambience will fit. Thank you.
I believe they will. I had originally planned to put these on the posts of a bridge I purchased, but the posts were too small. Worked out better on my pagodas. If the caps are too small, you could rig up a way to make them work. They are a hard plastic, so could either add something for them to sit on top of, rather than over the post sleeve, or could drill some screws into it to make it work.

They are plastic electroplated with copper.
It's not real copper. They are some type of copper plated. You get what you pay for.Still very nice for the value.
Real Copper is used in the electroplating process over ABS with a hand applied antique finish.

Not that I can tell. Copper is the color. It has a glossy finish, so it looks fairly realistic.
