Questions & Answers

If it is used for outdoor garden , is it weatherproof? how long it can hold up?
ByApr 21, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Pure natural jute twine is not fully weatherproof, it is environmental friendly and degradable. For outdoor garden use: Service life: roughly 6 months to 2 years Short lifespan in rainy, humid or coastal areas: only about 6–12 months In dry and shaded outdoor areas, it can last around 1–2 years. If you need longer outdoor durability, we suggest sisal twine for more permanent outdoor use.

Is this twine goo for tying springs reupholster
      ByJun 6, 2025
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, This twine is not recommended for tying springs when reupholstering. While jute twine is suitable for light-duty tasks like bundling or gardening, it can stretch and break under pressure. For reupholstering, a stronger and more durable material like upholstery twine or webbing is recommended to ensure the springs are securely and properly supported.

Can I use this to tie outdoor string lights to the balcony railing without damaging the paint? Or uv resistant zip ties would be better?
        ByNov 26, 2024
        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

While the twine is suitable for light-duty tasks, tying outdoor string lights to a balcony railing might expose it to friction and weather conditions, potentially damaging the paint on the railing. UV-resistant zip ties would be a better option for this application as they are designed to withstand outdoor elements and provide a more secure hold without the risk of abrasion.

So 30 rope is about 2mm. Is it higher the number smaller the thickness, like with wire?
        ByNov 21, 2023
        3 Answers |
        Answer This Question

Yes, the numbering system for rope and twine is similar to that of wire gauges, where a higher number indicates a smaller thickness. In this case, a #30 rope, which has a diameter of approximately 2mm (5/64 inch), is thinner than ropes with lower numbers. This system helps in identifying the thickness and strength of the rope or twine for various applications. [This answer was generated by AI and verified by product experts.]

No..the #12 is only 1.2 mm, and the #28 was 2 mm.so higher number is thicker twine

          (1)

The AI answer here is wrong, which you’ll find on numerous sources if you look up the twine numbering system online. As noted above, #30 is about 2 mm. #60 is ~3 mm and #96 is ~4 mm. #7 or #9 are both close to 1 mm, with #9 being a touch thicker.

Definitely. Used by Air Force and Navy SAR helicopters to hoist up downed pilots. Worked great pulling my friend’s F-250 stuck in a ditch, using the winch on the front of my Unimog.

absolutely....I used for rescuing another person that fell into a 1200 ft. ravine. 2 adults weighing 328 pounds each. Twine is very strong, and resists any abrasion.

                                Durable and Versatile Twine!
I purchased the Everbilt #30 in. x 200 ft. Green Twisted Jute Twine initially to bundle up wood for garbage, and it has come in super handy for various tasks around the house! This twine is durable. I love that if I don’t have scissors on hand, I can easily rip it with a key, which is a huge convenience. Plus, I don’t have to worry about it ripping or making a mess of whatever I’m bundling—it's reliable and strong.

This twine works well with my hop plants. They can grip it really well and it is bio degradable because I can't really untangle it from the hops at the end of the season so it all goes in the compost.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I am a homeowner with plenty of trees in the yard. I am a do it yourself kind of guy; I will trim branches and cut them into 4' lengths and use binders twine to put them into compact bundles to make it easy for the trash folks to pick them up. I have tried many different types of binders twine over the years, and my biggest complaint is line breaking. Many times there would be thin areas of the twine that would be weak and snap while I was tightening the twine around the bundles of branches and twigs. It did not happen with this Everbilt Jute Twine. The manufacturing is very consistent; the whole length of twine is strong all the way through. I was so happy with this stuff that I was compelled to write my first review. It has a 7LB rating, but it feels even stronger. If I could do it over again I would buy the biggest package available because it goes 190' goes quickly. Any do it yourself homeowner needs plenty of this product in their tool shed or garage.

It's not super strong, but it's usually strong enough for tying up plants in the garden, training vines and so on. Plus it eventually decomposes so you don't have to worry too much about clean up.
