For best results in-ground, do not use this product alone; layer 2–3 inches of garden soil over your native soil and till or spade it down to a depth of 6 inches to ensure they are thoroughly mixed. (Note: There are very few exceptions to this rule, and they rarely come up).

Hi Doug Thank you for your question on Miracle-Gro Garden Soil All Purpose The pH of this soil is between 6.0 - 6.5. The pH will change as soon as the soil is used. The types of plants used, and the type of water they use city water, rainwater, well water will all change the pH as soon as they contact our product.

When using Miracle-Gro Garden Soil All Purpose, For In-Ground Use for seeding, we recommend mixing this product with at least 50/50 with the native existing earth. Otherwise, distinct soil layers will form which are not good for the growth of seed and plants.
