Hi there, This backer board seam tape is very thin—it’s a fiberglass mesh, not a material that adds thickness (Typical thickness: ~0.01 mm (about 0.0004 in.). Approximate thickness: extremely minimal (virtually no buildup) What this means: It will not raise the surface height of your installation It is designed to be embedded into thinset mortar, which provides the strength When properly installed, it will not create a noticeable ridge Bottom line: The tape is for reinforcement only and does not affect floor height or leveling.
No, this tape is not meant for taping and bedding drywall joints. It is designed for cement board or backerboard installations (such as around showers, tubs, or tile areas). It's made to resist the alkaline materials in thinset mortar-not just compound. For sheetrock or drywall, we would recommend drywall joint tape instead. Customer Care
