Be sure to use the common screw (black/dark color screw) and the top brass color screw, there is no polarity when you are using the switch on a single pole. Does this illuminated switch work with LED andCFL lighting?
Lutron recommends using the CA-3PS non-illuminated switch when operating LED/CFL lighting.
Is this switch suitable for LED lights? The switch with locator light by another manufacturer causes the LED light to remain on very slightly due to the current on the line. It is not enough to light a room, but is clearly visible and disconcerting. I am looking for an illuminated switch (to find in the dark) that will not cause the load light bulbs to remain on. Other switch says to use only incandescent bulbs.... which I like in some places, but are not suitable for this particular application. I must have LED.
Due to the locator light feature of the SC-3PSNL, LED lights may experience "ghosting" where the lights stay on at a very dimmed level when the switch is off. Instead, Lutron recommends the SC-3PS which does not have the locator light feature or the MA-S8AM Maestro switch, which has a small locator light on the left that can act as a locator light.
Some switches require a minimum wattage to work propery so they cannot be used with LED lights. Is this the case of this switch?
There is no minimum load requirement for the Claro switches. However, Lutron does not recommend using the Claro switches that include a night light feature with LED lights. Instead, Lutron suggests the CA-3PS.

No, it doesn't come with a dimmer capacity.
The CA-3PSNL is an on/off switch only. There is no dimmer function with this device. Instead, Lutron recommends the DVCL-153P as this will retain a similar look to the switch but offers a slider on the right side of the device to dim the lights. The DVCL-153P is rated for 150W of compatible LED/CFL or 600W of incandescent/halogen lights. If using LEDs, please visit www.lutron.com/ledfinder or www.lutron.com/ledtool to ensure they are compatible.
I am confused. One of Lutron answers says it should not be used to switch LEDs and another Lutron answer says it can be. Please clarify. Thanks
The CA-3PSNL is not recommended to be used with LEDs due to the locator light. When the switch is in the off position and the locator light is on, it may pass current and voltage to the lights and keep the LEDs on at a very dimmed state. It may be possible to alleviate that symptom with Lutron's shunt capacitor, should it occur.
I have the switch controlling 2 LED recessed fixtures in a staircase .. the "other" switch in the 3 way is non lighted Lutron and both work fine.
Does this work with fans or just the lights?
Yes, the CA-3PSNL-WH could be used for a fan load as well.
