Thank you for your question. Yes the padding strips need to be removed before caulking the countertop to the base. The thin black padding strips on top of the vanity are there to protect and cushion the marble top during transport

Based on the vanity dimensions, the recommended rough-in plumbing location for each sink would be centered approximately 23-3/4" in from each side of the vanity and 18-1/8" from the center. The drain height should ideally fall around 20" from the floor to the center of the drain, while the water supply lines are typically placed 3–5" above that.
