they are not meant for metal
What is the purpose of the metal sticking out of the top of the handle? Seems really sharp/dangerous and I'd like to know its intended purpose to see if it's worth keeping around.

I bought the set of scissors and a, very happy with them. They are sharp and easy handling or my small hands. Very happy with this purchase.
What are the two things sticking out of the handles of the household scissors used for?
It’s a flat screwdriver head....also great for opening cans of paint.
Beer bottles.
They appear to be flat screw driver blades for slotted screws. They are part of the scissor blade that runs the full length of the plastic handle. (They are not just little stubs of metal inserted in plastic). Good for light duty use only.
I don’t know the “official” use for those but they do work as a bottle opener:) like for soda;) also I have used them to pop the metal film on the top of some bottles that were hard to get off. The security film stuff if it doesn’t have a tab to pull it off.
