Questions & Answers

Will this cut carpet tiles as well
ByDec 17, 2025
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

The Slimline Manual Tile Cutter is designed specifically for scoring and snapping ceramic and porcelain tile. It is not intended for cutting carpet tiles. Carpet tiles are flexible and fibrous, so they won’t score or snap properly on a manual tile cutter. Customer Care

Can this also be used to cut antique mirror tile?
    BySep 10, 2023
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Hello Mrs D Reese, since the material composition of mirror tiles is considerably more brittle than the typical tile that this cutter is recommended for (e.g., ceramic, porcelain, etc.), we would recommend a wet saw for this - such as the ones seen @ this link: https://www.qep.com/products/tile-saws/.

No. However, you may want to consider other tools to cut marble, the best tool is a wet saw or circular saw. QEP Torque Master 3/5 HP Wet Tile Saw Easily cuts ceramic, marble, slate and stone tile. Includes 4 in. QEP continuous rim diamond blade, rip guide, angle guide and clip-on extension table.

              Answer This Question

No, this tool is designed to score and hold a tile in place for extra support while bearing down to create a perfect cut. You may want to consider Model #10-220 ROBERTS Cut and Jam Carpet Knife for cutting carpet.

              By|Dec 6, 2022

It’s a ceramic/porcelain tile cutter. I don’t think the scribe wheel is meant to cut through carpet tile.

Utter rubbish. Specifically bought to cut 24" tiles. It will cut smaller tiles but was not able to cut a single 24" without breaking it. The steel tubing is too flimsy and bent every time. This will be returned.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you experienced an issue while using this tile cutter. It is important to score the surface of the tile just once firmly in one continuous motion. An uneven scoring line, improper pressure, a worn cutting wheel, the cutting guide not being aligned properly or the user not maintaining a steady hand during the cutting process can all contribute to an inconsistent cut with a slight deviation from a straight line. Absolute garbage I cut my first tile a 24x24 tile in half and that one worked, the next six tiles all broke when using the breaker bar to snap the tile, at the end of the cut shattered complete garbage do not buy. What an inconvenience. Had to race out to get a wet saw to finish my project. Not on messed up tile

We are sorry to hear that you had an issue with this product. This cutter is designed to cut 24" straight and up to 18" on a diagonal with a maximum depth of 1/2" It is important to score the surface of the tile just once in one continuous motion. After scoring and without moving the tile, position the handle so that the breaker bar is slightly in from the front edge of the tile. Then, apply increasing pressure on the handle until the tile snaps along the score line. It may also help to hold the end of the tile while snapping. Customer Care QEP
                      Junk!
Piece of junk! Bought it this morning and will be bringing it back asap! The paint was scuffed so someone must have returned it and it got sold again as new! Doesn’t break clean, scores nicely but won’t snap the tiles along the lines for anything! Wasting tile and time with this junker.

This worked amazing if you follow the instructions. Most people try to split the tile by forcefully pushing down I'm the breaker bar. This just requires a couple light taps on the handle and it makes a beautiful straight cut. I was even able to cut an inch off the edge of several tiles with no broken tile, which is rare for this stile tile cutter. Do keep in mind that sometimes the tile itself determines how it breaks. If there are weak points in the tile from the manufacturer or from handling, it may not break how you want it to. The tile I used was just regular porcelain $1 per square foot tile and I had no problems.

I used the online order and got a used one
It’s nuts every time I do curbside or store pick up they always put used tools, and Mouldings that is completely messed up. This is not the first or second time Home Depot has done this it’s very Annoying bc now I have to go back to fix it. The tile cutter legit still has remnants of someone else tiles. Like why would you restock and sell that!!

I was reluctant after reading a couple reviews that said it was not good. I think it matters if you know how to use it also if you’re using quality tile I do not buy big box store tile I buy my tile at a local retailer. Better quality tile cuts easier but this tile cutter works awesome cutting 15by 30s . I have ripped several now and they’re all beautiful. Tiling 25 years now
