I have a cat, will this rug withstand scratching?
Hello Carolyn, thank you for your interest in our rugs. This rug will not survive with a cat due to it being wool and loop pile. Cat claws will get stuck on the fibers as you should get a rug that has cut pile so claws will run through easily.
Is this rug treated with many chemicals that will need time to air out upon arrival?
Hello LuisaK, our rugs do not contain any toxins, VOC, or PDBE-emitting properties. Safavieh rugs are not treated with any insect repellents, stain repellents, or flame retardant chemicals. It may smell when unpackaging due to shipping process which should be aired out in a week. Hope this helps.
Is the rug thick/stiff enough to be placed under heavy furniture in a room with wall-to-wall carpet? Or is it too flexible? will it buckle?
Hello! The pile height is 10mm. We do not recommend placing furniture over this rug while it is over carpeting as it most likely will bunch up and buckle. Thank you for your question!

It’s a warm toned beige taupe color, so a warm beige with under stones of warm gray. Definitely not cool. I own two and both are different so it could depend on what you get. My other one is much lighter and has more ivory in it.
