stainless steel version is brass replated in stainless steel color. i believe screws are stainless steel
There is no gasket here.
It may be possible if there are two holes for the two mounting screws. You would have to check for them. If there are two holes for the two mounting screws, you will have to make sure the holes line up by measuring the space between the holes. I believe the spacing on this faceplate is 2 inches. Good luck!
Remove your snap and install this overflow plate Good luck with your project
Because of the way a snap on plate attaches there is no place for the two screws that hold the overflow plate on unless under the snapped on pieces there are two holes in the rough plumbing elbow that would accept the screws.
I don't know what you mean by snap, Adrienne. I had a popup thing on my old overflow plate that never worked. So I unscrewed the three screws that were holding it, removed and tossed. Yay. And then installed this overflow plate but reused two existing screws as the new ones were much longer. All said and done, it looks so much better now. Love it. I guess you can do the same. Good luck with your project
Take off the snap-on face plate. If you see 2 empty ( unused ) screw holes that are side-by-side just inside the tub lining, chances are this will work! GL
Center to center measurement of the holes is 2"
The center to center measurement of the holes is 2".
No. It probably works for most but my tub requires a deeper cover. The perils of restoration. tk
Measure from the center of one screw to the center of the other screw. With this measurement, Go to Home Depot and measure from the center of one hole to the center of the other hole. If the measurements are the same, then you can use this face Plate. I hope this helps. Good luck with your repairs.
It probably would but I would suggest measuring first, just to be sure. It replaced mine although I ended up using the existing screws as the new ones were too long.
This product measures 1.91" center to center of the mounting holes with a 3 1/8 diameter housing. Yes, this product will replace any two hole tub overflow cover which matches these dimensions.
the holes for faceplate need to be 1.91" center of hole to center of hole with a screw length of 1-1/2" and the diameter of the plate is 3-1/8" across.
No, you do not need a gasket between the faceplate and tub. There should be a gasket on the other side of the tub, between the tub and riser pipe flange.
There is a gasket in between the overflow pipe and tub. You should replace it with this new gasket. In other words, the new gasket goes in between the overflow pipe and tub not the tub and faceplate. I hope this helps. Good Luck on your repairs.
Yes, you do need the gasket, it seal the space between tub and drain overflow when you tighten the screws. The gasket go between tub and drain not tub and faceplate.
I bought my faceplate for a house I already sold, so I can't go look at it for you. Does the rusted metal ring come off or is it attached permanently to the tub? There is nothing that creates more damage than water. So if there's a rubber gasket that fits inside, I would get it. But the gasket should not make the faceplate stick out away from the tub. I would definitely replace if possible and I'm sure it's very inexpensive to do so. If you could, I would call a plumber (not a hardware store worker, unless they use to be a plumber) just to ask them over the phone, or better yet go into a plumber's display store so you can show them. If you need it, you could buy the gasket right there. The price for the gasket will be inexpensive there too. Most plumbers are very nice and would gladly give you the information. Always best to do it right, for example, my brother replaced a hot water hose on my Mom's dishwasher. Simple fix right? Well, my Mom woke up to a lot of hot water that leaked everywhere. Everything was saturated in the kitchen, living room, under the kitchen cabinets, seeped through the ceiling into the basement. He used an incorrect hose, it should have been for high heat and it cost my Mom $7,000 in damages. I know this is different, but take the time to make sure it's right. A simple gasket could save you potentially a ton of money in repairs.
I didn't use gasket when replacing my old overflow plate. However if you already had a metal ring between the old faceplate and the tub, I would say reuse it. You will have to try and see. Chances are the existing metal ring was needed due to a certain detail of the tub. Hard to tell without seeing.
Hi John, The overflow cover needs no gasket between the metal and the inside of the tub. You should not use caulking either, as over time, the caulking might yellow. The only gasket on the overflow is between the outside of the tub and the overflow elbow, and that gasket should not be disturbed by you changing your trim. I would, however, wrap the screws with PTFE tape or thread compound to prevent a leak there.
I didn't use any rubber gaskets when replacing my old overflow plate. Didn't caulk either. Just used the existing screws to attach as the new ones were too long and that's all
Yes, this faceplate does come with a gasket. I suggest checking before buying.
A rubber gasket is not included, and I didn't use one when installing this overflow plate in my tub. I didn't caulk the cover to the tub either. It's holding well enough by the 2 screws. Use existing screws as the ones that came with this overflow plate are way too long, for my tub anyway
Yes, this item does come with a rubber gasket.
