Western Red Cedar but could come from multiple regions depending on supply offering a range of color tones.
Can you cut my lumber
You will need to contact your local store as they are better suited to answering your question.
Has this cedar decking board been kiln dried?
Cedar decking can be air dried or kiln dried depending on the time of year, temperature and incoming log conditions. It is hard to say exactly but generally they are kiln dried.
Is there a difference between this and model 281798 besides the length?
Do I have to sand the boards to prep them before applying stain?
No, but you do want to make sure the deck is clean from debris and no surface moisture is on the boards prior to applying the stain. Try and avoid staining your deck in the heat of the day as your results may vary as the stain will dry quickly.
Is there any available?
You will have to ask our local Home Depot if they carry it at your store. I am not sure what store you are at so it makes it difficult to answer your questions. We stock this item at several distribution centers in the U.S. and have available stock to replenish at our manufacturing site.
Are these typically used as outdoor deck boards?
Yes, but can be used for many other non-structural outdoor projects.

Sku 281798 is a 12' length and and you are referring to a 16' length. Same product just different lengths.
