We had a little trouble with the cylinders that hang from the front of the awning. We adjusted them wrong, and it would not close. We did get them fixed

The Awntech awning came through in perfect condition. Except for some minor scratches on the support beam. But they did include some touchup paint for that. The reason for the 3-star rating was for shipping. It took one month to finally be delivered. The shipping company provided the wrong tracking number for my shipment. And the operators could not find any order with my name and order #. Finally an agent from Home depot set them straight and we finally got the awning. IMOP, I feel Home Depot needs to re-think their shipping companies.

Well-made product. Good installation instructions. Wall bracket opening should be 1/16th larger to all easier fit for torsion arm. Middle bracket for Destin hood can get in the way of middle wall bracket….must adjust

The awning itself is very nice and it manually opens and closes very easily. However my poor rating is due to the delivery service. I recognize my 1 star product rating is an unfair even though the product itself is decent, but I’m the customer and I should not be bearing the burden of poor delivery and poor customer service. The awning is 16’ long and weighs 160lbs. It was wrapped in bubble wrap and plastic wrap inside of a stiff cardboard box with plywood ends. There was nothing in the packaging to support it. It was delivered to my home in the back of an old beatup pickup truck and hung unsupported 8’ out the back of the pickup bed sitting on top of the edge of a closed tailgate and the other end in the bed of the truck was wedged in with a piece of plywood. Very unprofessional… boneheads if you ask me. It should have been delivered in a box truck. It was some guy’s private personal pickup truck. There wasn’t even the name of a delivery service printed on the truck anywhere. A label on the box said not to accept delivery if the box was damaged. The box was scratched up some but no apparent damaged so I accepted it. I should have acted on my intuition that the awning was damaged just by visually seeing how it was loaded into the back of that old beatup pickup truck. When I opened it up I discovered the hood was bent where it was sitting on tailgate edge and was creased where it was wedged in bed of the pickup with a piece of plywood. Also the main torsion bar was bent where it was wedged in with the plywood. And the torsion bar endcaps were twisted in slightly. I tried to unbend the bent areas and hung it up on its brackets anyway. I needed to use a c-clamp to get the bent end to fit. After one rainfall small area of rust formed on the endcaps where it was stressed from being twisted and the paint had peeled off. The hood didn’t look very good all wavy shaped from being bent. My wife insisted we send it back since we spent so much money on it. I agreed. Exchanging it for a new one was the second issue. I went to Home Depot and spoke with a customer service person who seemed to be having a bad day so she was a little difficult to deal with and seemed to have no empathy or concern about the issue. She said that since I did not buy it at the store then I needed to contact Home Depot via the website. I insisted that she help me as that is why I one to the store to talk to somebody face-to-face. She reluctantly then helped me further. When I told her how it was delivered in an old beat-up pickup truck she didn’t seem to grasp/acknowledge the wrongness of that and simply treated as "damaged in shipment". I told her that I didn’t have a way to get a 16’ long, 160 pound awning back to the store. So she said I had to call and arrange for a pickup, and wouldn’t be refunded until I received an email from the receiver at which point I could reorder another one. That was too long of a process and I felt it was too risky. First, this was $1,900 item that we bought for use over the summer, by the time we got it back it would be after July. Second, I was not comfortable relying on an unknown source to contact me about a refund. Third I’m the customer paying $1,900 for it and I should not be the one burdened by a bonehead shipping error. Last when I asked if the replacement would be delivered in the back of pickup again she said she couldn't guarantee that leaving me feeling quite exasperated.

Looks nice, easy to install. Haven’t used it much with all the rain.
