Soft Close problems
I have 2 high end Townsquare S toilets in my home and had on each the traditional soft close elongated seats. Both toilet lids have snapped in the last 6 month from back hinge to almost complete front on their own. First one I wasn't home when it occurred. Second recently happened i was in the master bedroom when the master bath toilet seat lid broke. All I heard was this loud bang, went to inspect what happened in washroom the lid which was closed was snapped (single person household, no pets). Its obvious the resin the lids are made of aren't designed for the long term (near zero use, new model house but 6 years old, first occupant) pressure of the hinge spring for the soft close function.

Super dissappointed
I bought this seat 20 months ago and out of nowhere one of the hinges just broke. Only one person uses. Do not use heavy chemicals to clean. House kept at comfortable temps. It looks raggedy where it fractured and split.

Slow closing seat
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This toilet seat is a very sturdy option. It was easy to install. The directions on the insert shows how to install on a regular sized toilet seat. If you turn the hinges around, it fits an elongated toilet. This is a very sturdy toilet seat and very comfortable.

Solid mountind
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The seat has a unique mounting system. It can be easily mounted from the top using the rubber expansion plugs or using the nylon wing nuts on the under side of the seat. The one piece hinge plate ties the two screws together making for a solid mount preventing the typical loosening (wiggle) of the seat. Another feature is the capability to easily remove the seat for a thorough cleaning.

I needed to replace the slow close seat (from another manuf) that has broken twice already. The installation is very simple, you have a choose of top or bottom mount hardware, both are included with the seat, I chose the bottom mount option. One nice feature is to remove the seat from the mounting you just push the two chrome buttons on the inside of the hinge and pull the seat and cover upwards off the hinges. Once removed it’s easy to clean the back area around the mount to the tank. To reinstall just line up the seat with the hinge pins and push down to click it into place. This seat also has 4 support pads on the bottom for better weight distribution. I’ve seen some with only 2 pads towards the front. The everclean surface is easy to keep clean. It’s a little on the pricey side but if it last for years and years then it’s worth it. I’ll still recommend it.

This toilet seat was very easy to install. You are given the hardware for both types of mounts, both top and bottom. Honestly, I wasn’t aware there was such a thing as two different mount types so I was relieved that this product accommodated both. My seat ended up being a top mount. The directions were very easy to follow and I had it installed within 15 minutes. The lid is soft close so I no longer have to hear the toilet seat be slammed by my frequent visiting grandchildren!

I decided to install the Traditional Slow-Close EverClean Elongated Closed Front Toilet Seat in White with the top side mounting installation method. I was very pleased with the new top mounting method not having to bend and contort to place screws under the bowls edge. It installed in minutes and was far more stable and secure than the previous seat. I plan on getting another and replacing another seat that moves far to much with other mounting methods. In short a basic well designed seat.

Ok, so I'll admit that talking about a toilet seat is a bit odd. Seems like a pretty generic item, right? Not so! This seat from American Standard stands (or sits) above the average seat. The look is sleek and fits our new Kohler toilet perfectly. Construction feels heavy-duty and the seat is quite comfortable. Installation was a snap with the included hardware and the seat is sturdy and secure in place. Clean up is easy, so I anticipate it will continue to look great for years. And best of all, the self-closing lid and seat is a great feature. Just give it a nudge and walk away - the seat will close softly. I am very pleased with this product - highly recommended!
