So, can I modify it before I order it? I want 10' sidewalls, and 2x6 stringers for the floor and loft.

        Answer This Question

Mac, These modifications are not possible for the Belmont shed kit. Best Barns shed kits allow for some customization with regard to windows and sometimes door placement but structural changes as you describe cannot be provided. Richard Best Barns

              Good Overall
I have no complaints about the materials, although one piece of plywood for the floor came very warped and we had to put extra 2X4 blocks to support it. We ordered a 12X24 with a loft, the photo shows how it looks at time of delivery. The instructions were not so explicit, so don't try this assembly if you don't have at least a handyman or someone with construction experience on hand to fill in the blanks!

This was a horrible experience. the place that made the barn did not communicate to Home depot so they were missing most of the materials. we have to go back and forth, wasting time and resources. It was double the price because it was not made well enough and took a master carpenter to construct it. I would never buy one of these again. Best to just build one from scratch saving time and money.

              A not-quite-what-I-expected shed purchase.
Perhaps my expectations exceeded my skill (and the skill of my friends), but this was a DIFFICULT project requiring some equipment I didn't have and didn't know I needed. Instructions were minimal at best and oftimes fairly vague. Some, but not exceeding 10%, of the 2x4s were so warped as to make it difficult to use. The order came from two locations (locally and Pennsylvania) and maybe the dry Wyoming climate caused the warpage of the east coast wood; I still had to purchase a few pieces to replace those which were unsalvageable. There was plenty of very good glue included, but the assembly was supposed to also be done with the many pounds of provided nails. I purchased $50 worth of screws to assemble the flooring and borrowed a nail gun and nails for the wall studs rather than trying to pound in about 500 or more of them with a hammer. The packages arrived with little to no labeling (i.e.: treated 2x4s vs. untreated) and the parts and pieces were mixed together so it was a full day's job to open everything and sort out all the various pieces by kind and size and purpose. Had one item which was diagnosed by several folks as a door header for a door which was not a part of the building; didn't know what to do with it nor why I had it. Ended up having to hire a contractor to finish the job who commented that he would have built the same shed for me for the same--or perhaps less than--the price I paid. Fortunately, the contractor could understand the instructions at least well enough to complete the building. As it turned out, I invested about 30% more money above the initial purchase price into getting my shed assembled and ready to use. Had I had maybe 4 or 5 times as many skilled friends, some serious lifting equipment to assist in putting the(very heavy) roof trusses into place, access to a good table saw and mitre saw, and if screws had been provided rather than nails, the project would have been easier, faster, and and probably worth the money.
