          Hot pepper heaven
We’ve planted ghost pepper plants for two years now, and they haven’t disappointed. The leaves develop into a rich green color and the plant produces a large harvest. The pepper's heat slowly (and unexpectedly) creeps up on you, however, once you understand it, it can easily become a staple spice in your cupboard. I’ve made sauce, stews, semi-sweet peanut butter ghost cookies (a major hit with everyone who is into spice), etc. Once you master the quantity / heat ratio, the heat creeps up on you followed by a nice sweet finish, unlike other peppers that have a bite. I also use this pepper as a deterrent for raccoons and other animals that like invading my vegetable garden.

Bought two of these last year at two different visits, both times it was the last ghost pepper plant. My two plants produced enough to keep me stocked with mango ghost pepper salsa and a bag of frozen ghost peppers for chili for the off season! Plant grew a good 4 feet and filled in every available space with nice sized peppers. Heat and flavor was excellent. Hoping to get two more this year but they sell out fast.

I transplanted them and they took nicely to the garden bed, we have to wait now to see how they produce.

Plants were leggy and not full. I cut them back to try to stimulate growth. No luck so far. Will probably trash them.
