Can I use this vent when making my own glass block window? I have glass blocks that are 6”x6” and 4” deep leftover from a different project and want to make my own window. It should be possible, as long as I leave sufficient space, right? Any suggestions?
Hi Ruth, this product is a pre-assembled glass block window built with 3 inch thick nominal glass block, so the glass block in this window would not line up well with your 4 inch thick nominal glass block leftovers. If you are looking for just the hopper vent, then Internet # 301275175 | Model # RU16X8 would work with your 4 inch thick nominal glass block.

Can this be mounted flush with the outside wall or does it have to be recessed in at all?
Hi Shaun, glass block windows can be installed flush with the outside wall.
Does it matter if the vent is at the top Or bottom?
This vent is intended to be installed with the latch at the top of the window such that the you pull the latch downwards to open the fresh-air vent. We cannot guarantee that the vent will remain water tight if installed another way.
What type of mortar mix is recommended type F or S?
We recommend either a premixed glass block mortar mix or type N mortar for above grade applications or type S mortar for below grade applications.
Can you just replace the vent on the glass block window?

I have the frameless vent glass block in my bathroom, there's algae growing behind it, how can i get rid of it
Glass block can be cleaned with most common household cleaning solutions found at the store that contain a bleach solution. If algae is growing inside of the glass block, then that means there is a crack somewhere in the glass block and the block would need to be replaced.
