Questions & Answers

can you see through this glass as if you were using it in a shower?
ByDec 11, 2024
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

This glass block is very private due to the pattern of the glass block. At most, vague colors may be discernible depending on how close an object is behind the glass block, how close the observer is to the glass block, and lighting conditions on either side of the glass block. Please refer to Internet # 203608911 | Model # IC883 for an example privacy image using this glass block pattern.

    Answer This Question

Hi Suzie, the closest glass block window size to fit a rough opening of 36 inch wide x 43.5 high would be 34.75 inch x 42.5 inch, which would be model # 3644VIC for an ice patterned and vented glass block window.

      Answer This Question

Hi Lisa, if your rough opening is 26 5/8 inches wide x 37 3/8 inches tall, then we recommend model # 2638VIC. If you would prefer a looser fit, then model # 2636VIC would give you more room to work with. If your rough opening is 37 3/8 inches tall x 26 5/8 inches wide, then we recommend model # 3826VIC. If you would prefer a looser fit, then model # 3626VIC would give you more room to work with.

Can the window itself be removed from the frame? I need to slide some lumber into a crawl space and it would be helpful if the window can be removed.

        Answer This Question

The hopper vent sash can be removed by unscrewing the attached hinges and the exterior insect screen can be removed via screws as well.

          ByNov 2, 2023
          1 Answer |

It would depend on the mortar type. We typically recommend either a premixed glass block mortar mix or type N mortar for above grade applications or type S mortar for below grade applications.

Anyone in here have an update as to how well these windows are in terms of heat/cold efficiency? I'm contemplating putting one of these in a basement bathroom that's against an exterior wall. I want to make sure these are well insulated to keep cold out.

                Answer This Question

These glass block panels are mostly comprised of glass blocks that have an individual U-Value of 0.53, which is roughly equivalent to a double paned window.

                  Shipped Broken Defective Glass
Arrived broken at window vent seem, needed to glue back together - turned out okay using Gorilla Glue clear. Black speck inside glass block, I didn't realize til a day later after instillation. I'm sure they would refund but I'm not going to deal with reinstalling at my rental unit. Other than that it looks nice. Buyer be warned, I cannot recommend this product.

                    Beautiful! Exceeded Expectations!
I ordered this while doing a bathroom remodel. We have a brick exterior and wood frame interior. It wasn't originally in the plan but since the wall was exposed to take care of some termite damage I thought I would give it a try. The old window was double hung wood and since this faces south it was in very poor shape, and we always had the blind closed since the glass was not opaque. Now, it seems so bright in the bathroom and we don't have to worry about anyone being able to see in! It's nice to be able to open the small window for ventilation if needed, although the way the window pivots is a little bit awkward. I chose the installation option of lining the wood window frame with backer board and installing with mortar. HD sells a 3# bag and that was just enough to fill the edges. It's supposed to be mixed to a dough consistency. There is no way to squeeze that in with a grout bag so I just forced it in with a putty knife and smoothed the outside on the exterior and interior. It dried very hard. I finished the outside with cedar trim painted to match my siding. Inside I will be putting in an oak window sill from some leftover flooring but since it is framed with backer board you could tile it if you wanted too. So glad I found these!

                    Good Window for the Price
This was installed in a bathroom, and offers good privacy but a lot of light as well. The vent will be nice to allow fresh air in as well.

the box arrived and the window was intact, when i lifted out it seperated into tow pieces. Because i had already removed the old window i had no choice but to buy a quality silicon sealant and repair it before installing it. The sealant on the window was about 1.5 inches on the side that separated' the other side was much larger. I was planning on two more windows but now i am reluctant.

I have 6 currently installed in my basement as replacements for older single pane windows. I had received a quote of 2500$ for replacement casement windows. Not saying that is bad but I decided for the approx 1600$ savings my girlfriend and I would do the installs ourselves. The windows were true to size and IMO the most difficult part was cement work. After removing the existing window we leveled the rough opening with quick drying cement. We used a grout bag to squeeze the mortar between windows and cement blocks of the opening. Most time of the install was spent during that part. We mostly did one a day ( 4 hrs or so) but we did try 2 one day and for us it was a little too much. I can't speak yet on the energy efficiency of the windows since they are only a month old and our weather has been pleasant. The vents allow good airflow and I can say the noise reduction has been very noticeable. Very quiet. Light transfer is good and I think they are quite attractive. Another note on the installation as per instructions do not handle or carry the windows while laying flat. Need to pick them straight up from the sides when you put them in. All in all pleased with my purchase.
