Here are the steps on checking for leaks: Shut off the valve on the gas tank and remove the regulator and hose from the tank. Dip the regulator into a solution of soap and water and reattach the regulator and hose to the tank. Ensure the burners on the grill are in the "Off" position and turn on the valve on the tank. If there is a leak in the regulator or hose, the soap bubbles will indicate its location. Replace the regulator or hose, if necessary. No, you will need to purchase propane canisters
RoadTrip LXE 2-Burner Portable Propane Grill in Orange does not include propane. It is sold separately.
No. But the propane it uses is inexpensive
No, not included. Designed to work out of the box with the small disposable propane bottles. Will work with the larger tanks with an adapter hose, the one that Lowes carries (Char-Broil) works.
No, but that and a grate cleaning device are all you to get started. Assembly is fairly easy following the instructions which are pretty understandable. A small wrench is all you need for assembly and it is provided with the grill.
No, the gas grill does not include a propane tank.
RoadTrip LXE 2-Burner Portable Propane Grill in Orange does have the propane attached to the back of the grill but it is not touching the grill.
I am sure that it is. When I first used mine I put my hand back by the propane bottle checking for heat. I thought no issue. Secondly, Coleman could not afford to put out a product that is not inherently safe. It is very bad for business.
Yes, it is safe to do so.
There is a bottle rest/bracket that it sits on, there is space between the bottle and grill, and the bottle is below the point where heat vents outward. Bottle did not get appreciably hot during use. I plan to use an adapter hose and a large tank, more economical than the disposable bottles.
I've had my grill for 6 years now...never had a problem
It's safe and is held away from direct contact with the grill body.
RoadTrip LXE 2-Burner Portable Propane Grill in Orange is not designed to be hooked to the low-pressure propane systems found on RVs. Coleman appliances require higher pressure than is put out by the RV systems. Some RVs provide a high-pressure connection to allow the use of outside appliances. To use a Coleman appliance with a high-pressure RV connection, you will need: First: At LEAST 15 PSI at the connection Second: The proper hose to attach the appliance. The regulator that comes with the Coleman appliance MUST be used in line between the RV connection and the appliance If the connection is the same as the top of a 16.4 oz cylinder, you can use the 2000015160 8’ High-pressure Extension Hose. If the connection is one like the standard POL valve on a 20# cylinder, you can use the 2000014877 5’ High-pressure Propane Hose and Adapter.
It should, but since I had a pressure issue when using an older 6 foot adapter hose, I would suggest keeping hose length to a minimum.
It is designed for use with disposable propane canisters and the manufacturer doesn't recommend using other systems.
With an adapter, yes. Without, no. Unless you can already plug into Coleman tabletop stoves.
There are adapters that will fit, but the manufacturer recommends only using propane canisters.
It has a little different fitting, it’s a Coleman fitting. But, there is an adapter out there you can buy to plug right in.

Yes, this connects using a regulator to a 20 lb propane tank.
You would need an adapter that will go into the receptacle on the regulator that comes with the grill. The adapter will look like the top of a small green propane bottle with a brass thumb wheel to tighten it down.

Of course the manufacturer wants you to buy their overpriced tanks! It’s safe to buy the adapter, that is on the market. It’s 100% safe. It’s like saying extending a permanent propane line from a large line from a 1000 gallon tank that fuels your whole home use to your back yard bbq is dangerous. My family has sold propane for 30 years, this is 100% safe.
The manufacturer recommends only using 1lb propane disposable cylinders.
No, this comes only with the 1 pound tank adapter and the larger size is not recommended for use with this product. I am sure it would be too powerful and could cause a fire.
I am sure you can, I have a Mr Buddy heater and I have an adapter for that that I screw into a twenty pound tank. For the Coleman you would screw the adapter into the regulator. The adapter for the grill has a male fitting the same size as the propane tank.
there is a adapter
Thank you for the question. We understand that you are looking for an adapter to connect your Coleman grill to a 20 pounds tank. We suggest to use Coleman 5-ft high-pressure hose with adapter, available through our retail partners. We hope it helps. Have a great day.
It works
