Will this compressor start when receiving power from a 7000 watt Honda inverter.
This compressor is not generator or inverter friendly. It is made to run on just regular power.

Does anyone have experience with how this compares to the California Air Tools 2hp compressors? Is this any quieter as it is rated with a much lower db?
Can this be transported laying down on its side?
Yes it can be put on its side.
In the description of uses for this compressor, I noticed "inflation" isn't mentioned, whereas almost all of the other compressors list inflation as a primary use. Is this an oversight or was inflation left out intentionally?
I often use it to inflate tires. I have a 1 ton van, inflate the tires to 80PSI
With 20 gallon capacity and 110psi in the tank it'll inflate most anything you want. I use it to inflate truck tires, bike tires as well as run shop tools and spray guns. I think with a compressor of this capacity, it's used more as a shop tool vs. the small compressors folks use for inflation purposes only. This will inflate anything, and quickly.
1) Is this still assembled and quality control outside USA? 2) can it handle automotive impact wrench, other air tools and automotive spray paint? Thanks
The compressor is made in China. It will run an impact wrench, air ratchets, nail guns, staple guns, etc. it will not run something that requires sustained amounts of air such as cut off tools or grinders. It can handle light paint work, hobby painting projects. I would check the air requirements for your paint gun before relying on this compressor for automotive paint.
This compressor is not considered a industrial type compressor so it cannot handle the big impact wrenches and paint guns. These are made outside of the USA but we do have parts for them here in the USA.
How did you get a 115 Volt, 14 Amp motor to produce 2.5 HP? Standard watts to horse power gives 115 * 14 * 0.001342 = 2.16 HP.
IT IS 2.5 HP PEAK.
This is a great air compressor, so quiet, gets the job done. It is also great to have two outputs if needed so more that one usage at a time.
It's a 2 HP compressor. It is listed as a 2 HP compressor at sites like Northern Tool and Air Compressors Direct.
All electric air compressor horse power ratings are basically made-up. What they're trying to do is pass-off "peak HP" as continuous HP. Ignore all HP ratings. Perhaps stay focused on CFM ratings.
How much does it weight?
The compressor weighs 132 lbs. My shipping label says that with the pallet and crating it was 215 lbs.
