I read that it takes three (3) max 40-watt candelabra (E12) bulbs. But what shape long bulbs or round bulbs? Also can I use smart bulbs?

If I purchase additional remote, can two remotes be programmed to work for the same ceiling fan? ie: mount one remote by the door and keep one on the nightstand

Yes, but with caveats. If you have an external dimmer switch you can wire the light up to that but this means you can't use the remote to turn the light on/off. You can only use the remote to control the fan.
