Can the unfinished shutters be stained?
Thank you for your interest in this product! Yes, the unfished shutters can be both painted or stained. Keep in mind that PVC is a non-porous material. Wood stains are designed to penetrate the surface they are applied to, so a wood stain would not be ideal for PVC. If you intend to stain these shutters, I would recommend using a gel stain instead. There is an option to order unfinished shutters. Are these then able to be painted? If so, what type of paint would work best?
Thank you for your interest in our products! Yes, unfinished shutters would need to be primed and painted. We would recommend finishing the shutters with a high quality, exterior grade, 100% acrylic latex paint. For the best adhesion, use a primer that is recommended by the paint manufacturer of the paint you select. We would also recommend finishing a True Fit PVC shutter with a paint that has a light reflective value (LRV) of 55 units or greater. Best of luck on your project!
