what is the coverage floor area for the fixture at 8 or 9 foot ceiling
Very poor, we have 8ft ceilings, bought more for decor in cabin setting, not very good for light out put.. looks great however..

Would these lights work for an open basement ceiling that is painted black. We don't want it for over a specific area but to light the whole room. Thank you.
Yes, however, this fixture does not come with bulbs, so it depends what kind of bulbs you put in. We would suggest a bulb with high Lumens to help light up more of the room, and 5000Kelvin for a bright white light. If you are looking for more of a warm orange type of light, you may want to look at 2200-2700Kelvin. The cord is also adjustable so you can hang them higher or lower as needed to spread out the light.
