Beautiful toilet
We splurged on a 1-piece toilet and are very happy with how it looks. The flush mechanism works well.

Black Toilet - Great to keep clean as one piece.
My husband wanted a black toilet and purchased this toilet. I was resistant to black at first - but it really makes a statement in the room with all the black finishes (faucets / showering / accessories). Also like the 1 piece toilet as it's easy to clean!

      Over engineering of toilet mounting
I’m currently installing one of these newly designed toilet mounting brackets. They are over paying these designers to engineer a poor design. The Jonny bolts won’t allow more the 3 lbs of toque before the plastic becomes to rigid and causes your metal toilet flange to bend and let lose. Just overall poor design and not worth the hassle to even sell our customers these products.

Jesse B, this is Sarah with Kohler Co. I am very sorry to hear about the difficulties you have had installing the Memoirs toilet, due to the floor bolts. Over-tightening can damage the porcelain bowl, so it's important to avoid excessive force. Please email our team directly at KohlerCustServ@kohler.com for additional assistance. We are here and happy to help! Kindly, Sarah S., Kohler Customer Service
Huge performance difference compared to Toto
My only regret was the color ( grey) because everything shows ( ie hard water stains. Performance wise, the toilet works great. It does a much better job as far as flushing capability and the bowl staying clean. We replaced the rest of our toilets in the home with Toto and this toilet is much, much better. I do recommend this toilet. In addition, the design is modern and interesting.

          Delivered Broken
No idea how well it works. It was delivered by Home Depot's shipper in a damaged box and the tank was cracked. Home Depot gave me a song and dance...have to arrange with shipper to have it picked up...3-5 days to get my refund AFTER the shipper picks it up. Its currently sitting on the sidewalk because Depot will only do curbside delivery. It weighs 150 lbs. and I refuse to move it. Bottom line - use Depot only when you need a box of nails and make sure to pick it up yourself.

            Classic design
Classic, elegant design. One piece makes it easier to clean and it flushes smoothly every time.

Great toilet until the flush gasket failed
This toilet was installed by the previous owner of our house. Everything was great until the flush gasket in the tank needed replacement (4 yrs from the manufacture date stamp in the toilet). I have always handled repairs like this myself. Usually it's cheap, fast and simple. Like any Kohler aquapiston toilet, replacing this gasket requires a lot of physical effort to seat the gasket and lock the piston assembly in place. But on this particular model... there's not enough clearance behind the bottom tank opening to properly seat the base of the aquapiston assembly itself, it hits against the back wall. I had to grind down the flange on the assembly until that piece would even position properly. THEN deal with putting the gasket back in, which involves using lots and lots of compression force, while twisting the assembly base. It's was so awkward I created my own 'tool' (as other have written about) with a short piece of 4x4 lumber with another piece of wood on top to get enough downward force and then sideways torque to everything locked in. And for reference I'm a grown male with strong hands and shoulders. The aquapiston itself isn't a bad concept, I can't think of a reason why the design has to be such a nightmare in terms of simple maintenance. This shouldn't be an issue on any basic toilet, let alone a top-shelf kind of model like this. I cannot recommend this toilet based on this experience. I would look at other Kohler aquapiston models but I'm going to take a very close look inside the tank. ps. In Canada, you can't get the aquapiston parts for this toilet through any retailers, must be ordered over the phone from Kohler USA and shipped direct. So if you need a similar repair expect your toilet to be offline for at least a week. Good luck everyone!

Hi Shred, this is Sarah with Kohler Co. I am very sorry to hear about your experience changing the AquaPiston valve and gasket. This toilet was designed with the intention to fit the valve within the tank without modification. We are concerned to hear you needed to modify the part as well as create a tool to complete the installation. Please email our team directly at KohlerCustServ@kohler.com so that we can best assist you. We are here to help. -Sarah S. Kohler Customer Service
Great style, high quality but measure carefully
This is a beautiful, well made toilet that is compatible with both modern and classic settings. The skirted base eases cleaning and one-piece design reduces leak risks. But this new design has a large rectangular base (older models had a smaller footprint and angled rear corners). If your water supply is in the floor, measure carefully!

              Flawed Design
The design of the K-6428 seems to be flawed as installation requires two right angle bends of plastic pipe at the base. Because of this design, after flushing, water drips onto one of the plastic connectors and causes a dripping sound for about one minute. This is very disconcerting in the middle of the night. My toilet also seems to have a problem with the single flush mechanism. Sometimes the handle remains down and the water continues to run until someone notices it.

Hello, my name is Sarah with Kohler Co. I'm sorry to hear your toilet is dripping internally in the middle of the night. This is nothing you should expect. This may be caused by a slow leak within the tank. We suggest performing a water test to narrow down the cause. Here is a help topic designed to help you with this test: https://bit.ly/38bDz4k.
