Will this heater work as a surface mounted unit on an 8" masonry block wall
Yes. For surface mounting you will also need the surface mount frame (sold separately). Part# is LPWSMF-WD. You would also need to make sure there is power to the location. Use of cement anchors is also required.
Are the dimensions provided the dimensions for the external unit on the wall? Can you provide the dimensions for the housing that will sit inside the wall? I currently have an old wall heater where the housing inside the wall is 14" W X 18.5" H.

is this 110v or 220v ?
This is 208V. Model# for 120V is LPW1227T-S2-WD-R and for 240V is LPW2445T-S2-WD-R

No, If you have a 208V circuit you would need to purchase a 208V model, if you have a 240V circuit you would need 240V model# LPW2445T-S2-WD-R

Most likely it will not be sufficient enough depending on where your cabin is located, insulation, ceiling height, etc. We suggest 6000W for 600 sq. ft.
