Will this fit a Ridgid brand arbor?
    ByDec 6, 2024
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Arbors tend to be universal. The larger saws use 5/8” 18 threads per inch size, with usually two side pins for torque stability. So, if your Ridgid arbor is this size, it will fit.

Summarized by generative AI from text of customer reviews

Customers say the hole saw performs well for cutting through drywall, plywood, and metal, making it ideal for installing recessed lighting. Many users appreciate its sharpness and clean cuts, while some express concerns about durability, noting that the teeth can wear out quickly after a few uses. Overall, it is considered a valuable tool for specific applications, though some customers recommend using it with caution to avoid binding and ensure optimal performance.

                    Strips out easily
I've stripped out the threads on two of these drilling a few dozen holes in 3/16" steel. The threads that hold the saw on the arbor strip out from vibration despite the arbor pins being engaged and the the saw starts to wobble so much that it becomes nearly useless. Trying a third saw with a cordless drill and a low speed setting to see if that prevents the issue but it's slow going as it runs the batteries down fast.

Used on corrugated metal roofing for can lights as a bsmt ceiling. To keep the bit on target, I first drill a piece of plywood and slowly engaged the bit into the metal roofing.

Excellent saw! Just go easy to alleviate binding the big radius and it cuts like crazy. Made multiple cuts thru a rim joist that was doubled and tripled in spots to make way for 6" round supply duct. abought 15 min per hole. and it's still sharp. Highly recommended. Tom C

                          Makes Swiss Cheese of Metal
To test the hole saw, I made a series of holes in 1/8 " steel, without pausing to let the hole saw cool down. The hole produced is not as precise as ones made with a milling type cutter, but for its intended purpose, it is quick and accurate. After completing the fourth hole, the teeth were inspected and appeared to be in as good condition aw when new. Slug removal slots are provided in the wall of the cutter, but, as the "slugs" fell to the ground when cut through I did not get a chance to try out this feature. For purposes of testing, this hole saw was mated with a corresponding Klein arbor/drill and adapter bushing.

                          great hole saw
These Klien tool hole saws do a nice job cutting clean holes thru metal with no problem. I am impressed with how easy it cut thru 20 gauge metal with no problem the hole saw itself is rather rugged and seems to be holding up well. I would recommend these with no problem very happy with the cutting ablility and should get plenty of use from this in my projects.

                          good product
This hole saw is a nice cutting tool. Good clean cut fast cutting tried on a piece of 20 gauge sheet metal and had no issues. It has wrench flats for easy removal which is rather handy. I would recommend the hole saws without a doubt . I liked that it didn't grab the metal as the cut was finishing I used it with my cordless drill with no problem at all.

Rugged Hole Saw (Arbor Sold Separately)
This hole saw is welded to a thick steel plate at the base that has a 5/8" tapped hole in the center that threads onto arbor catalog number 31905 through using an adapter included with the arbor. The boring depth of the hole saw is nearly 2" and is limited by the clearance inside of the hole saw body. The slug from the material being bored filling the inside of the hole saw limits how deep the hole saw can bore into material. If both sides of the material being bored are accessible it is possible to bore through thicker material by boring the material from the opposite side as soon as the pilot drill bit goes through to the opposite side of the material. Boring from both sides of material is recommended by most hole saw manufacturers to minimize tear out. The cut-outs on the side of the hole saw extend to 1-1/2" in depth make it easier to remove a slug inside of the hole saw after boring through a stud, or joist, etc. by using a narrow flat blade screwdriver to pry out the material slug from each side. The manufacturer claims that this hole saw is optimized for cutting steel and can also cut stainless steel and bore through 2x4's in a single pass. Have only used this hole saw to bore through 2x6 boards so far.
