Double-S Hook Fish Rod Attachment

I'm not an electrician by trade, but I certainly have done a lot of wiring and fishing over the years. I am glad to have this hook in my tool box now. It works better on smaller wires than larger ones. I tried it on a 12-2 (see photo), and while I was able to easily hook on to the wire, I had a harder time letting go. You need to make sure you can hook on and pull toward you for a wire this size as you can only turn the rod clockwise. If you attempt to turn it counter-clockwise, the hook will just unscrew and you could lose it in a very tight spot. (Fortunately they also make a magnet that could help retrieve it)

This tool is an accessory made by Klein Tools. It is a couple of double hooks made from steel. It has on end a piece that screws into my Klein fiberglass fish rods and a pair of hooks wrapped in opposite directions. I have used it along a ceiling crawl space to reach across and grab existing wiring to pull towards me. What makes the double hook design unique is when you go up to the wire and turn the hooks 90 degrees they easily grab the wire enabling you to retrieve the wire to pull towards you.

This attachment has very very limited uses. It is intended to snag a single cable like cat 5 or cable tv that is suspended or easily accessed. The problem comes from the fact that you are trying to control the movement of the tip from 10 or 15' away with a flexible rod and the rod is moving all over the place. Very frustrating to try to get the double hook around the cable. Its also way too big to fit thru a drilled hole smaller than 1-1/8" so it has limited uses in a stud cavity. Overall its very well made, but it will end up in the bottom of my tool box never to be used again.

got this in the hopes that it would fit my Greenlee fish rod set.they did not however i gave them to a friend of mine whose set they did fit. he loves this doubles S hook design. It allows him to be able to pull several cables at one time. the large loops also allow him to also loop thru larger cables such as cctv or catv cables. worth the money if you pull alot of wire.

This double S hook is ideal for fishing wire or pull cords through rough openings where other hook types tend to snag and get caught. The curvature keeps the hook centered in drilled holes and allows for easy pulling of cable. While I have not used it for "snagging" wire in a blind application, it is made to work well for that application as well. Klein is top of the line when it comes to electrical tools so if you have to fish or pull wires, this hook is a best buy.

The double s - hook fishing rod attachment is very good to have in your toolbox with your fishing rods. The double s hook attachment is added security when pulling wire in conduit giving you another place to secure the wire to. This is a great item that should be in every toolbox, and the perfect gift for someone just starting out as an electrician.

I am in the process of finishing my basement. In my last house, I would have loved to have had this and the other fishing tools made by Klein. They really make fishing wires, cables, etc through walls much easier. Even now, with only 2x4's up in my basement, this and the other fishing tools makes running wires, etc much easier. This attachment, although made of metal, does not have any rough edges to cut or nick the electrical wiring I have run throughout my basement. Very well made product.

The wire hook is welded to the shank. Though not brightly finished as expected, Klein assures us the tool is stainless steel. I use blue Loc-Tite to avoid losing this little doozy. It performs just as advertised. It is far more secure (than is a single hook) when retrieving with a fish rod. And in blind situations there is less 'hunting and pecking.' Just sense the target cable and turn gently counterclockwise - a few jigs and you'll have it. The same technique also provides a systematic solution when a second operator is directing from an observation port or intermediate pull point. Now my dream solution is for Klein to turn this tip and another into a sort of 'fox and hound' combo so they can home in on each other in blind spots; and I don't need to depend on persistence and luck or bore-scopes and extra helpers. My customer will appreciate lesser bills and fewer holes, too.

Great addition to you tool bag. Gives you something to attach your wires to when you are having a tough time pulling wires through a conduit. Gives you something to hook on if you have to fish a pull from the other end of a run, and you are having issues with the pushing function. Great tool and versatile uses. Will work with most cable pulling rods.
