Why create a faucet that has to have power? I understand you can run off batteries or AC voltage. But, if the power box itself fails, you have no water? Why can't the water run by opening the handle without a power box?

Moen MotionSense/Wave faucets use 6-double AA, non-rechargeable alkaline batteries, which last approximately 1 year with normal usage. The Moen 169031 MotionSense/Wave AC Adapter with Y-Splitter, which must be purchased separately, allows you to run the faucet on your home power and it would only use the batteries during power outages. Moen does manufacture/sell many faucets that do not require power to operate the manual handle; these faucets do not have a sensor or operate in a handsfree manner. The Moen 87205SRS Birchfield Single-Handle Pull-Down Sprayer Kitchen Faucet with Reflex and PowerBoost in Spot Resist Stainless does not require power to operate the manual handle and does not have any handsfree capabilities/sensors. Anyone have an issue with the control board going bad on this faucet? I have changed the batteries and nothing changes. How can I bypass the sensor so I can at least water? Any advice would be appreciated.

To disable the sensor on the Moen 87205EWSRS Birchfield Touchless Single-Handle Pull-Down Sprayer Kitchen Faucet in Spot Resist Stainless the handle will need to be in the off position, then hold your hand over the sensor and rotate the handle from hot to cold three times; the water will stop flowing once the sensor is disabled. The same instructions will enable the sensor. The faucet will require a 1 ½” minimum hole diameter and the soap dispenser will require a 1 1/8” minimum hole diameter. The soap dispenser does drop through the top of the sink and secures to the sink with the included mounting hardware from underneath.
