2-Light 4 ft. White Wraparound Light

It is a decent fixture if you can get it not damaged. Second time now that I have to return the fixtures because the lenses are cracked from shipping.

Very easy to install and fantastic levels of brightness

2-light 4ft. white wraparound light. seem a simple enough description. great for a pro or diy. very simple install no special tools needed. simply mount the light. route & connect your wires to the self locking connectors. install the ballast cover. add to 32 watt t-8 bulbs. then clip the diffuser lens on & you are good to go! a simple upgrade almost anyone could do. a huge upgrade to my laundry room area. Very Happy

4-LIGHT 4FT. WHITE WRAPAROUND LIGHT. very nice product.. no special tools needed to install. Ballast cover removes easily without tools. wiring connections are a simple push connect type. simply strip the wires & insert into the connectors. this light uses 4 32 watt t-8 bulbs that are not included. wrap around diffuser help to spread the light around.. highly recomend this light. i used 7 of these to drastically change my garage.

This WS232 model, 2-Lamp, 4 ft. White Wraparound Light by Metalux from Cooper Industries (an Eaton subsidiary) is an fine lighting product which offers the standard collection of features for fluorescent ceiling lighting fixture. The luminaire has clean, modern design with a low profile & lists energy efficient specifications. Until the issues discussed below are corrected, I currently cannot recommend this product. The manufacture and/or shipper needs to closely examine their processes, as the 1st example received was damaged and unusable. The 2nd item ( replacement) was also damaged upon receipt. This second product was examined closely to understand the failure modes. 1 - the ballast cover was not secured on the fixture frame, allowing it to bang around on the plastic lamp holder ( T8 sockets) and the clear-acrylic cover (diffuser /refractor). The 1st item had a shattered lamp holder ; T8-socket; which may have been precipitated by that loose ballast cover or improper manufacturing process. 2 - Both the 1st and 2nd items received had cracked ends on the clear acrylic cover. Perhaps further analysis can determine the fault for that breakage ( weak materials, fragile design, inadequate packaging, etc.). The fixture design has the clear cover hanging loosely to up-turned edges on the metal frame. 3 - The product packaging seems adequately designed to protect the product exterior; perhaps further protection for loose interior parts would be advisable. 4 - An obvious and correctable problem is how the product is packed for shipment. The shipping box is too big ( both times) and minimal and inadequate filler materials were used. The retail product package was not constrained from being seriously jostled inside the shipping box.

Initial viewing: The box is a nice, sturdy container, that holds the fixture nice and secure, with the fixture fully assembled. Once the fixture has been freed from the box, the lens can be removed by shifting it to one side, lifting that side and then unhooking the other side. The driver cover can be removed by “squeezing” it to unhook it from the tabs, and then lifting. That will revel the ballast and the wiring. It is a cleanly constructed unit with the green ground screw easily identifiable and a quick connect plug, that you can simply insert the wiring into, eliminating the need for wire connectors. The tube sockets are held loosely in place, by metal taps that they slide onto, not a confidence builder, but, when you consider that once the tube is in place they can’t go anywhere. Installation: I mounted this to the ceiling, using a 2 x 4’ crossing perpendicular with the joists, and then screwed the fixture to the 2 x 4. I knocked out the plug on one of the ends, placed a gromet in, and attached a 14/2 power cord, with a standard 3 prong plug on the other end, to plug into the ceiling outlet. Once the light was mounted, I replaced the driver cover, making sure that all the wires were inside and not pinched, install the tubes, and then replaced the lens cover and plugged it in. I flicked the wall switch and brought some light into the workbench/man cave. Summary: When compared with the 40+ year old unit this replaced, it is like comparing an early 60’s car body to a 2018 car body. The old unit weighed in at around 35 lbs. and this one comes in at around 13.5 lbs.! With the exception of loose tube sockets, this is a well-constructed, easy unit to work with, and should last a couple of decades. I’d rather lift 13.5 lbs. verses 35 lbs. It lights up immediately when the power is turned on, and is quiet, no humming. It is less expensive than the fully LED light fixtures, the tubes cost about $5.00 each and should last years, if they perform like the old T12 tubes. I haven’t replaced a tube in 5+ years.

the light came in early, was very easy to install. just took 10 minutes to installed. Looks great. very bright

Item arrived damaged. We reordered and item arrived damaged again! We just superglued it together but will NOT order form Home Depot again!
