Does this drill require a pilot drill as does a hole saw for drilling wood? And if so, please provide a part number for the pilot drill. Thank you.

    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

No it does not require a pilot drill. You can use a template or approach the surface with an angle at a lower speed, then gradually move straight.

I previously paid $600 to get a hole drilled in our countertop. With this drill I was able to cut a perfect 2" hole through quartzite for our coffee bar. It can be challenging to start the hole but my solution was to make a template with 1/4" plywood and hot glue it to the counter. Worked great. To finish the job I smoothed a little white caulk around the hole and installed a plastic grommet. YouTube provides good tips for this project. Total cost all in was less than $70.

Worked good. Was a little surprised that it did not use the standard hole saw arbor. Has 7/8" course threads. Normal hole saws are 7/8" fine thread
