About This Product

Oatey PVC Rain-R-Shine Medium Bodied Fast Set Blue Cement is recommended for pool and spa, irrigation, potable water, pressure pipe and DWV applications. It is formulated for wet conditions and quick pressurization, and is easy to apply with included in-lid dauber. This blue, medium bodied, fast set cement can be used to solvent weld all schedules and classes of PVC pipe and fittings up to 6 in. diameter with interference fit. Oatey products have earned the trust of plumbing professionals for over 100 years.

For my undet concrete 3" pvc joints I used shine and rain blue glue. It is a toilet pipe for my basement bathroom. I bought it expecting clear cement but it ended up as a blue cement. It it ok ?

This glue is the truth in irrigation and drainage piping, but be committed to your piping it will dry FAST. No turning or going back once you touch those pipes with this stuff.

Worked for me! Needed to do some PVC work installing a bigger surge tank on our well and my old glue was gelled. Saw the Medium Blue and decided to give it a try. Other than the color, it works like the clear, but the color lets me see if I missed any part of the pipe. PROS: Color givex good visual indication of application.

Like the fact that it combines the primer and cement in one product. The fact that the primer is combined with the cement is very convenient plus the fact that the cement is a vivid blue means that it is much easier to see where the cement has been applied (which can otherwise be an issue when working in low light conditions). The cement spreads easily and made a solid joint. It seems to be a thing with the Oatey products that the lids are on so tight I need to use a channel lock to open the can, trying hard not to crush the lid...

I've used Oatey products for years and never have been disappointed with the results. Oately rain and shine is the perfect solution for many of my applications on the farm. Typically when a PVC pipe bursts, you need a product that will work in the wet. I've also used it on pressure tank applications to making PVC dog jumps! Rain R shine is designed to be used without a cleaner, however just to be safe, I always clean and rough up my joints prior to final assembly. Rain or Shine sets quickly, a nice feature for those emergency jobs.

Oatey is a brand my husband and I have used for years. This Rain or shine brand was what we needed for re-piping all the PVC pipes for our above ground pool. Since we were in wet areas, this was the best application because it sets realy--REALLY FAST! You need to move quickly when you use this, so have all your parts ready to go. We do a diagram, than quickly glue and seat immediately. Provide a very strong hold and the smell isn't as strong as some other brands.

Excellent cement for pvc pipes. Sets fairly fast and is solid. Works well in cooler wet conditions. Just dry the pipe, apply cement and assemble the pipes or fittings. I fixed my irrigation in just minutes and it worked better than any cement I have used before. Blue color to let you see that you have gotten it applied right. I highly recommend when you are finished with any cement to tighten the lid and store it upside down to prevent left over glue from setting up.

I have used this Oatey Rain-R-Shine 8 oz. PVC Cement in the past several times and to me it is an outstanding PVC cement. I last time used it was when I installed my yard sprinkler system. It was used inside in the basement and outside in the sprinkler control box and have never had a leak. The smell is almost non-existing. The cement can be use on all schedules and classes of PVC pipe and fittings all the way up to 6 inches. This is a very fast setting cement so be sure to have the pipe and fitting really to go before applying the cement. A primer will be needed depending what type of pipe you are using. Check with a Home Depot employee to see if a primer is need for your project. If it does I recommend you use Oatey purple primer, it's great stuff.

This should be your go to PVC cement. You actually can apply it rain or shine. It will give you a positive bond and leak free PVC piping joint even in damp or wet conditions. This glue dries very fast and joints cemented with it can be pressurized minutes after making up the joint, in my experience, although you should follow the instructions on the can and wait two hours before pressurizing up to 180 psi. I regularly use this to repair and modify my irrigation system and highly recommend it.

Oatey lives up to it's brand reputation with this cement. The best part about this PVC cement is that you do not need primer. It is designed for quick application and use. It is designed for use with pressure pipe, irrigation, pool fittings and is even safe for use with potable water. It should not be use on pipes greater than 6" diameter. Another bonus is that is low VOC.
