JSK, that's a good question. The cover could function on a motor with a capacitor, but we make no claims as to whether or not this pump motor cover would offer any protection against the discharge (accidental or otherwise) of the capacitor you mention. The cover is primarily designed for aesthetics and minor dust protection, not for protection against accidental discharge of a capacitor (electric shock).
