How could I get a sample of this wall covering?
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot about the Patton Wallcoverings Red Realistic Pre-Pasted Brick Wallpaper. We currently do not have samples of this wallpaper. You have to buy the whole bolt, hold it up to view and then return it if not needed. Sorry for the inconvenience. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Can I use Red Realistic Pre-Pasted Brick Wallpaper to cover an old wooden garage door?
If the paper will be facing outside, it will NOT hold up to the elements, however if you are wanting to cover the wood doors for an "inside" application, this will work. You must first prepare the wood as you would any surface you will hang on. You first will want to sand the the wood just to remove any dust, grime, etc., then fill any holes or crevices with a wood filler. You will then want to use a quality wall sizing or wall prep on the surface. This is done so that the paper will better adhere to the surface. I have seen people use an inexpensive white FLAT paint to achieve the same result. You can then hang the product on top of that. If you hang directly on the wood without first preparing it you take the chance of it not adhering properly and/or lessening the time it will stay up.
