Hello. The color smoke is a blend between the gray and dark brown. You can use this in a kitchen although we would advise an indoor/outdoor style rug as to not track anything on it. The rug is an actual shag, it has a high-low pile. Thank you.

I bought this carpet wondering the same thing. The shag area of the carpet honestly looks like a color you would get by mixing brown with grey. I have light brown furniture and the carpet complements it well. The carpet is not too grey if that is a concern and in my opinion, pulls more of a brown tone. It's beautiful, soft and cozy.
