Meshtec Ultimate Security Screen Door Collection

I bought this door about 3 months ago and I regret it so much worse experience ever paid for home depot professional installation. Since day it was installed door handle was not working correctly and jamming. Called home depot customer service to get it repaired and it took weeks for a technician to come out to supposedly fix the issue technician came out weeks after installation took apart locking mechanism and never installed it back said he had to order replacement parts and he would come back out to make repair took him close to 2 moths to come back out the day he comes out he comes without part at this point I am completely over it I have had this door for nearly 4 months and have not been able to lock it since day 1 I still haven't hear back from home depot with a eta for this expensive door I bought and haven't been able to lock at this point I just want it gone been a nightmare since day 1 horrible quality of door handle it comes with horrible customer service and extremely horrible installation. Now I have to pay someone to remove it so I can return this horrible product. Hope this review helps someone in the future to possibly stay away from this product and hopefully get good customer service and installation.

I read other reviews that said the door stuck shut and could not open even when unlocked. I figured getting it professionally installed by Home Depot would avoid this issue. Nope. 3 days after professional installation the door would not open no matter what. It was unlocked but stuck shut. For one, the lock on this door is wonky. You have to turn the handle up and then turn the lock a few times in the correct direction. It's a process and you cannot use other hardware than what comes with the door. I could get past that but it's not ideal. But a door has one job and that is to open and close and lock and unlock. This door fails on that part. The manufacturer walked me through prying off the door (this was a process) and unscrewing the latch so the door could at least open and close while we waited for Home Depot to uninstall the door. The manufacturer said it was not installed correctly. The installer said they have tons of these doors get returned because the latch is not made well. I side with the installer. The door was working fine after installation, for three days. A door should not be that finicky and when I removed the latch, I could see why it sucked so much. Side note: DO NOT USE HOME DEPOT INSTALLATION. The entire process was horrendous. The installer is HORRIBLE to communicate with and TAKES FOREVER to schedule. I purchased the door 2 months ago. It took weeks to get installed, and now weeks to get uninstalled. Also HD "virtual apron" is great in the beginning coordinating the process and then they pass you off to your local home depot and that is when you have to fend entirely for yourself. I can't count how many phone calls I have had to make throughout this process (at least 3 dozen calls) and how many times I had to go into Home Depot because no one is answering the phone. After two months, this door is still on my house waiting to be uninstalled. You've been warned. This door is an expensive, good-looking, dangerous piece of crap.

I installed this today. It took me all day, but I planned on that and I was in no hurry. I thought the instructions were pretty dang good. There is also an online video, it was helpful (mostly before I started) but I mostly used the printed instructions for the actual install. Bottom line is it is installed and working properly. I am not super convinced it will keep working properly, some of the materials are cheap pot metal type stuff. The Meshtec material seems great, super secure and also small enough holes to keep the bugs out. It comes with an adjustable bottom sweep for a tight fit at the bottom. There isn't much room for customization. The handle is not replaceable- except for the same model. There is no typical deadbolt setup. What it has is stronger than a deadbolt but propietary and not replaceable. We were hoping to use our previous keypad deadbolt lock and it will not work on a door like this.

The price vs build quality of this thing is laughable. ZERO STARS! I bought this thing a year ago and within four months the inexplicably complicated three point locking mechanism completely jamed up and failed. Attempts to adjust it resulted in short lived functionality until it just quit. FF another three or four months (without a locking door anymore mind you) and the regular passage door handle broke as well!! When disassembled it was discovered that the tension guides inside the handle are just cheap soft PLASTIC crap! Folks, this thousand dollar monstrosity is designed to FAIL!! CAVEAT EMPTOR!!

This doors locking system is dangerous! It was great for about three months and then I noticed the locking mechanism kept getting jammed until less than a year from installing it the latch-bolt failed and door got stuck into the door frame and wouldn't open. I was locked inside my house and had to pay someone to work on it and eventually it managed to open it. Paying over $1000 plus installation was total a waste of money for the door that looks ok but doesn’t lock. This is a company I would never recommend buying anything from due to such a poor quality and dangerous product. HomeDepot should really be taking a look at removing this low quality product that endangers customers.

I purchased a bronze meshtec security door in store and discovered it was missing the door handles, hinge and a few other items. Customer support cannot source parts. What a headache!! I may need to removed what I installed and return this Meshtec door if they cannot send me the parts.

Replaced ugly barred security screen doors with these several years ago. The new doors, along with removing window bars, made our house look years younger. These screen doors are attractive and provide excellent security as long as we lock them and we do. Other reviewers have reported difficulty installing or problems with the locks. We had a contractor do the install. He said it was not simple but doable. After five years the locking mechanism began to be difficult to operate. Unique Home Designs took my call on their support line, diagnosed the issue, and sent my replacement locking mechanisms and lock cylinders for all the doors. We were able to install the new parts ourselves after watching their videos. All doors are now working perfectly again. And they still look new after five years.

The hinges didn’t line up and the company offered no replacement parts because it had been discontinued. Do not recommend Unique Home Design doors.

For a $1000.00 door, you would expect way clearer instructions! It was NOT an easy install. It literally took all day and many, many adjustments. The locking mechanism is super funky and I'm concerned of it failing at some point and locking me in or out of the house! The screws provided are cheaply made(not magnetic). The key lock feels super cheap too. Would not buy this particular type of screen door again by this maker.
