Has the delicate plastic motor housing issue been addressed on the model available 4/8/25? I am considering purchasing for the current spring deal.

      Answer This Question

Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. The new model has a metal motor housing, addressing the previous issue with the plastic housing. It also comes with the Forge 12.0 batteries. This, along with the current spring deal, makes it a good time to purchase. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future

When these mowers were first released about three years ago there were many reports of a defective safety switch. Has this problem been resolved? Has there been a new model release?

Several people have reported that the motor broke off its plastic housing when they hit a small rock or stump. They all say these were not big rocks or major obstructions. That's a deal breaker for us. Has Milwaukee corrected this flaw?

Summarized by generative AI from text of customer reviews

Customers say the Milwaukee M18 mower is a powerful and efficient electric lawn mower that performs well on various grass types, often exceeding expectations in terms of battery life and cutting ability. Users appreciate the ease of use, quiet operation, and the convenience of interchangeable batteries with other Milwaukee tools. However, some customers have noted concerns about the cut quality, particularly with taller grass, and the weight distribution affecting maneuverability. Overall, the mower is well-received for its robust build and innovative features, making it a strong contender in the electric mower market.

As a first time home-owner, I needed a solid mower that I can expect to last. Within the first few mows, this appears to be the correct choice. Cuts lines, i personally like the mulching function, and the battery life lasts well more than I need for my lawn. Being able to fold and store against my garage well is the cherry on top!

                  The technology isn’t ready.
I was disappointed in the battery life of the mower and how long the batteries took to charge. To comfortably run this mower, I would recommend 4 12.0 forge batteries. It’s not ready for the comercial level, it could be useful small residential properties, but the batteries take over an hour to charge, which can make it difficult going to job to job. I wouldn’t recommend, and I would rather deal with the “hassle” of gas mowers for this under performance. This product isn’t ready yet.

                    Great mower
Purchased this to retire my old gas mower. Impressed with the performance and that it's a lot less noisy than my previous mower. I can finish my lawn in about 25 minutes, and the batteries have plenty of power to get me through the job.

                      Great lawnmower.
I’ve only used this once. Love the drive speeds and it cuts great.

My first venture in into E powered mowers
Mower works better than I ever expected over my Honda HRX217. My 1 and only gripe is on more of the design. The Speed Wheel. If you are wearing gloves while out working, it's nearly impossible to roll the speed barrel setting. I would like to see this improved to a twist dial or a textured barrel. Again, Super cool mower and does what its supposed to. I do wish they came with the high lift blade or dual blade as stock.

                          Best battery-powered mower...IMO.
I've had this 7 weeks & have used it 12 times. I'm really pleased with it & feel it’s the best battery-powered option currently available at this time even though an issue Milwaukee needs to address is the design of the mowers speed dial. It's way too touchy & can be moved very easily by bushes and low limbs & then the mower does wheelies or moves slow. I made a clear cover that is only open in the back over the dial for mine that attaches with double sided tape. Easy fix. HINT, HINT Milwaukee!

Made with delicate plastic, that breaks
It mows great until you inadvertantly run over a hard object. The entire motor broke off from the housing, which is all made of plastic. Its done about 4 hrs worth of mowing. Waste of $1000. This mower is too delicate and expensive for normal use.

It's super quiet compared to my nearly 15yr old (but still running strong self propelled Toro mower). All my comments below will be a direct comparison to my current gas mower. The good stuff: - Wheels must have sealed roller bearings inside because they roll very smooth. It is VERY easy to push/maneuver the mower around even without the self propelled motor - Locking detents for the collapsible handle is a nice touch - I've rarely needed to mow into the sunset, but it's nice to have some lights - Dual rapid charger charges both batteries at once so much quicker recover time The OK stuff: - The grass clipping bag is a super tight fit, straight forward install but one side of the anchors is stretched and not latching as cleanly as the other side - Dual rapid chargers make a lot of noise, almost like there is a fan inside to dissipate heat or something is just humming while charging. A slight annoyance, but my single rapid charger does the same thing, just not as loud. The Unknown: - Time will tell how reliable this will be. I've had my gas mower for 15 years and with my minimal DIY skills have managed to repair and keep it running in perfect order. This mower is all electric, so there is nothing serviceable other than to replace parts, which can get very expensive very fast since everything is proprietary to Milwaukee.
