Answer This Question

A:  Yes the store can cut these

by|Nov 19, 2019

A:  Hi, I'm happy to answer your question. Yes, Home depot does cut wood. How ever they do not offer precision cuts, so the tolerance is 1/2 inch to any and all cuts for the dimensions requested. they also only make straight cuts, no angular or scroll cuts Unless other arrangements are made with your local home depot, all cutting requests must be made in store at time of purchase. The amount of free cuts varys by location, please contact your local home depot for more information on their policy. home depots also have tool rental now at many locations, so you may be able to rent a saw to cut the wood your self.

A:  HI you need to get plans and the recommended materials. or have some drawn up as their are too many ways this could go wrong. due to liability I would have to recommend consulting a contractor and or structural engineer licensed for the state you live in.

Q:Wanting to build vegetable garden beds with this. Is it safe to do so with it being a treated lumber?

          Answer This Question

A:  It depends. See http://www.finegardening.com/are-pressure-treated-woods-safe-garden-beds You may want to use concrete or plastic alternatives.

          by|May 4, 2023

A:  I have heard that they no longer use arsenic as the preservative ingredient but check with your salesman to be sure.

            by|Oct 24, 2018

A:  Pressure treated lumbar is saturated with preservatives that can leach out into the soil and the plants. a barrier needs to be between the wood and the garden, one example would be a plastic sheet rated for the job. it would have to be installed in such a way as it would form a planter of sorts with the garden dirt in it and no way for water run off from the pressure treated wood to enter the garden.

              A:  Yes

              by|Nov 19, 2019

A:  I'm certainly planning to use them for exactly that! (Although mine will be a rain sail, not a shade sail.) I imagine that a bad storm would destroy the sail long before uprooting the 4x4's.

              by|May 4, 2023

A:  A 4x4 wood post will be fine if it is anchored into or to the ground. Not too pretty to look at though.

A:  Yes work well, bury them 34 inches

                  by|Jul 11, 2017

A:  it is more then just weight of what will be on it but other such factors as wind, etc. If a 6 x 6 seems to make more sense then its better to go with the larger wood to be safe rather then sorry.

A:  Yes, but why would you want to use treated lumber? It is heavy, wet (when you first buy it) and often warped.

                    by|May 4, 2023

A:  I've been told that the pressure treating gives off fumes indoors. Better to use 4x4s that are not pressure treated indoors.

                      by|Apr 30, 2020

A:  probably, but why would you do that? Pressure treated lumber is heavy (and wet when new.) And it tends to twist and warp. Why not use a better quality pine?

                        A:  Yes.

                        by|Oct 24, 2018

A:  yes after it dries out it will be the same as any other wood. I have used pressure treated for indoor projects such as the side supports to a lizard tank.

A:  As a slim woman, at 5'7", I wasn't able to pick it up, by myself. My husband, though, had no problems. They are awkward, due to their length. They weigh about 40-50 lbs a piece, I think.
