A:  I have mine powered by a portable generator at a cabin. Generator has to be at full speed as the splitter has a starting surge over 20 amps, and then settles to about 18 amps draw.

A:  I have this little splitter and it pretty much splits anything you can get to sit on it. I've split fresh hemlock rounds that are 14" -16" tall and 20"-24" in diameter. The are only two things that gives this splitter any grief: 1.) operating in cold weather <40 degrees F 2.) large knots in the rounds Other than that, I'm VERY pleased with this.

A:  Mine does, I think it depends on how wet the wood is.

A:  Hello Help, Yes, the RYOBI 5-Ton 15 Amp Electric Log Splitter RYAC490 is equipped with a reset/overload button. If the motor is overloaded the machine will shut off. A:  No. You must depress the handle and the start button at the same time. Letting go of the start button returns the piston to starting. No need for a reset.
