Q:Most of the negative reviews complain that the can being shipped has a plain lid with no twist off smaller lid within the main lid (i.e. no pour spout lid). I also saw the can in a store and it just has a solid lid.
Is the can with the pictured lid available?
If not the pictures and product description amount to misrepresentation and need to be changed

A: Rather than BEHR again and again telling us to contact the 1-800 number, it would be nice if they would either update this listing and the label attached to the shelves in the stores or actually provide the advertised lid with the cans. They are STILL shipping cans without pour spouts to the stores, with the lids that don't match the product descriptions.
Fix this.

A: None of my stores have the proper lid with theirs - they do need to fix their listing, it’s annoying to order online for pickup and have to figure out why it’s not the correct item

A: If you want a built in pour spout, an easy twist lid, and handle Dutch Boy makes a nice one. It is sold at a different store, though.

A: I will be sending complaint to FTC. If plenty send a report about this then they might care to do something about it.

Q:Can we buy the lid/spout setup separately? My store only had the plastic can with flat plastic lid and no spout opening.

A: I've asked at several stores in my area, and none of them have ever even SEEN the spout lid, all they have are the flat plastic ones.

A: Hi droidgee,
As it turns out, the spout attachments are not available for sale because they should be handed out for free with each purchase. Your local Home Depot will need to order more spout attachments. However, the paint can still be opened the old-fashioned way with a paint key or flathead screwdriver.
Please feel free to contact Behr's Customer Care Department for further assistance with this matter. We'd love to find a way to help.
Kindest regards,
Doris

Q:How long will it keep oil based paint fresh?

A: Probably best to store solvent based paint like alkyd enamels in a lined metal paint can. Over time the solvents could soften the plastic can.

A: Hi Zach,
As it turns out, we do not have a list of paint longevity timeframes. For best results, we recommend storing your paint in a temperature-controlled room.

Q:Do you buy the spout on the side or does it come with it

A: BEHR doesn't seem to understand we don't want to buy a gallon of paint to get a "free spout attachment."
We want the lid with the built-in lid that is supposed to come with this empty 1 gallon plastic paint can.

A: Hi Bpayns,
The spout attachment is free with gallon-sized paint purchases. Home Depot's paint department should have the spouts available. Please contact Behr for further assistance regarding this matter.

A: Hi manwithhammer - Thank you for your question. It's best to reach out to the manufacturers of the paint cleaner, diesel fuel, and other chemicals you'd like to store to ensure that their products can be stored in a plastic container. Best - Sara

A: Certain cleaners/liquids will melt plastic. If they were originally in metal container, best to keep them metal.

A: Unscrew the lid. It can be difficult if you have spilled paint on the threads. Tap around the screw lid, helps loosen it. The paint desk guys have a small round tool to unscrew lid, don't sell it though. Pour spouts are free at the paint desk.

A: They don't actually have the spout. They only picture them, but don't sell it as pictured.

A: Hi Ginny, thank you for writing in. You'll first want to remove the cap and install the Simple Pour Spout onto the cap with a clockwise turn. Use plastic wings to tighten properly. You can then pour the paint and remove the spout by turning counter-clockwise. Have a great day! -Giovanna
