Would be nice if they had a case quantity so folks can buy a full box. Answering a 3 pack does not help.

The HDX air filter is designed to improve air quality by capturing airborne particles, and it shouldn't release a strong synthetic smell. If your previous filter had a noticeable odor when the heater was on, it might have been due to a different material or a manufacturing issue. The HDX filter uses a synthetic media within a cardboard frame. You can always return the filter within 90 days if you're unsatisfied.

The filter size is commonly listed as nominal dimensions, which are rounded up to the nearest inch. The actual dimensions of a 20x25x1 filter are typically slightly smaller, around 19.75" x 24.75" x 0.75". You should measure the actual dimensions of your filter and use those measurements to find a matching grille. Look for grilles with adjustable dimensions or slightly larger sizes that can accommodate your filter's actual size. You might also consider searching for grilles using the actual dimensions (e.g., 19.75 x 24.75) instead of the nominal size.

Yes, they are the right size for a 20" box fan. Better than 1 is using 4 filters with the fan blowing out the top. You will find a video online showing how use 4 filters taped in a square. The bottom and top are cardboard with a big hole on top.
