Q:Can this work with a small salt water fish tank? I am aware of the gallon capacity limitations. I just need to know if can resist salt.

A:  Thank you for the question. Loctite Clear Silicone Waterproof Sealant may be used on saltwater aquariums smaller than 30 gallons (114 L) and/or aquariums containing water greater than 18” (46 cm) in height.

We recommend testing for compatibility and adhesion first, before starting the project to determine if the results are suitable and acceptable to you.

        Q:Can you clarify why it is not suitable for use on aquariums greater than 30 gallons and/or containing water greater than 18? (46 cm) in height? Im trying to understand why this isnt recommended based on the amount of water or height of the aquarium?

        A:  Thank you for your question. Loctite Clear Silicone Waterproof Sealant is not recommended for use in aquariums larger than 30 gallons (114 L) and/or aquariums containing water greater than 18” (46 cm) in height as it may not be able to withstand the pressure in larger tanks.

          A:  Thank you for the question. Loctite Clear Silicone Waterproof Sealant may or may not work depending on the composition of the plastic. There are some plastic surfaces this product will not adhere well to, so we recommend testing for adhesion first, before starting the project. Once fully cured, Loctite Clear Silicone Waterproof Sealant may be continuously submerged in water.

This is not to say you cannot try but with the understanding that the user, in this case, would be responsible for determining suitable and acceptable results for the intended application. We recommend you contact the skylight manufacturer for proper repair instructions of their product.
