A: You need to contact Rescue for that answer.
A: We have lots of pets and have not had any try to get into the jar.
A: Yes the smell is strong if it's in a closed of area but outside is fine. I keep mine under my deck where the garbage is. I hung mine up only one can get to it is me or the flys
A: Yes it is
A: The attractants in this trap are non-toxic, but you should still keep it out of reach of animals. The contents contain yeast, and if ingested, can cause some gastrointestinal discomfort. Flies also carry bacteria, and if an animal consumes them, it can add to the symptoms.
A: It is pet friendly to my knowledge as long as the animals aren’t knocking it over. The smell isn’t attractive to animals at all.
A: I think it’s fine as long as you keep it out of their reach!
A: Can not answer with100% surety but very sure no bad chemicals inside trap that could do harm. Liquid is for attraction of flies only. Once inside they die because they can not get out and eventually drown . Some sort of bad egg smell. Would suggest that trap be placed where any animal attracted to smell cannot get to it and tip it over. Drinking liquid might make an animal sick.
A: It's safe for pets if used as directed. Mike
A: Yea it smells dead fish
A: Due to the smell and the number of flies these traps attract, we recommend hanging them at least 20 feet away from building entrances, windows, and areas with human activity. Hanging the trap away from your BBQ will also help keep flies away from places where you want to be! If you have any further questions, please contact RESCUE! at info@rescue.com.
A: It smells awful. I loved ours away and had no issues at all. That thing is so powerful. It is still collecting flies and I’m 8 days in. I haven’t had any fly issues since! You could keep near food but it did take mine 24 hours to work. It just smells like old garbage or dead animals. Idk it smells but works incredible
A: Place them out few days ahead and your BBQ should be without the winged vermin.
A: I had this hanging in my chicken coop. the flying flies were attracted to it, but the flies on the ground ignored it. vey ineffective for my use
A: First of all, this trap really works. But, the smell can become pretty potent. I found that using a couple of them placed about 25 feet away (in two different directions) from the food area really helped big time to draw the flies away from us.
A: I wouldn't have this around a BBQ! This thing draws the Flys to it. What ever this bait is,it works!
A: Really unknown. Some will go to trap, others not. And all flies drawn to trap do not immediately go into trap and are caught. Bottom line, this will not stop flies from trying to land on BBQ food but may help some..
A: You wouldn’t want to set this anywhere close to where you eat. It has a very strong odor that is not pleasant. But the traps work very well! I think it’s more for long term reductions of flies in an area more than a trap to keep fly away from a meal.
A: I've bought two of these and placed them on my patio on a small table (2 ft high) and the flies didn't have a problem finding it, all were killed. Excellent product!
A: It noticeablely reduced the fly problems on the covered patio. It does smell pretty bad so it should be hung downwind from your party.
A: Just pour the solution in a toilet and rinse the container out. It’s reusable
A: I threw the whole thing away as I did not think it was worth the investment or the cost of the refills
A: I pour the entire contents onto the burn pile, clean, reuse.
A: No, you just pour it out and dispose how you want. You can buy the refills for the container when you want to use it again. they sell them in store and online. When you buy this container it will come with one pouch. you put the pouch in the container, then fill with water to the fill line, the pouch will dissolve. ours filled with flies in about a week and we just poured out and threw them away. then did it again with the refill. you can rinse out the container.
A: For the Reusable Fly Trap, there are a few ways that you can dispose of the contents. The most straightforward way would be to flush it down the toilet. If you don’t want to bring the trap inside, you can also pour the contents into a sealable container like a ziplock bag and throw that away instead. If you choose to do this, it's usually a good idea to wait until right before your trash is picked up so you don’t have dead flies in your garbage can for very long. If you have any further questions, please contact RESCUE! at info@rescue.com.
A: No. Simply unscrew the lid and pour the dead flies and liquid away outside down a drain then wash out the plastic jar. Buy replacement bags of the attractant and start all over again. No need to throw away the unit if it isn't cracked or unusable.
A: Yes. The whole thing was wrapped up and thrown away. We even took our garbage can out to the curb early because it smelled so bad.
A: I just tie it up in a couple of plastic grocery bags and put it in the trash.
A: Open the container, dispose of the dead flies and refill with new attractant.
A: Do not use it indoors it has a strong fishy smell
A: it smells like something dead.....you dont want it in doors
A: I don't notice the odor but my wife does. I use in garage. Has sort of a rotting egg smell but not intensely strong. Was designed to be used indoors for fruit flies. As noses different, honestly only way is to buy one and try it. It does work to attract flies. Odor acceptable to you? Only you can answer that.
A: Smells disgusting.. do not use indoor.
A: Yes! Absolutely use it indoors! I own a hoarding clean up company Hoarding Michigan. Anytime I do an assessment, I take note of fruit flies and gnats around. If we do the project, I bring one and set it up,and by the time we are finished, like 3 hours the problem is gone!
A: No. I wouldn't. It will catch flys but the Oder is not pleasant.
A: like poop. I wouldn't recommend it indoors
A: It smells real bad and gets worse when the caught flys start to decay. The product does extremely well, I didn't think there were so many flys around my house. I would say with in 3wks it was filled with flys. I used the round hanging sticky fly trap inside. It caught flys, fruit flys and pantry months.
A: It has rotten eggs or something equivalent as a primary ingredient. It smells a bit unpleasant when placed outdoors a few yards from the door. Personally would not recommend for indoor use, and it's labeled for outdoor use.
A: Hello! I use these for Hoarding projects we do. You don't really smell it until the trap has a lot of death in it!
A: No only outside. And they stink really fast once the flys build up
A: The odor is very strong and not pleasing so no, I would not recommend for indoors. I would go as far as placing it inside the garage space for not for living areas.
A: yes but they smell really bad. the dead smell is what attracts the flys
A: You could if you're willing to deal with the stench indoors. This fly trap will definitely do the job though.
A: I wouldn't use it indoors. The smell of the mixture is horrible and flies dying in it makes it worse.
A: It is not a reusable product. I replace a new one every other week.
A: I use plastic gloves. I close the top for a few days so flys and eggs inside die. pour it into plastic bag and tie it up. it smells bad but you can use it over and over. If you dont want to do that they make a disposible one you just throw away. just dont drop them...they break
A: By the time I was ready to dispose of the trap, the liquid had all been evaporated or absorbed. I tossed the whole thing into the dumpster, but would've tried scraping out the flies with a spoon or something if I planned to use a liquid refill packet.
A: Hi Kate! It depends. I personally dump it down the toilet and take the awful smell from it and I resuse mine. I own a Hoarding clean up company, and I give these to clients and the smell of death is horrible! I gave one to a client who is a friend of mine, threw hers out the door! So whatever works for you, works!
A: Dumped it in the toilet then rinsed it out and put it out again
A: Yes unwrap tbe plastic film and use warm water to help activate the fly attracting agent.
A: No, the clear film holding the packet together will dissolve in the water.
A: No. The water dissolves the plastic
A: Yes. Instructions state to open foil packet and put inner packet in jar.
A: No, the outside dissolves from what I remember. You take the plastic off but the pellets that dissolve are in a water-soluble pouch. Hope that helps!
A: Don't think bees are attracted to this only thing I have seen in this product are flies
A: No
A: I haven't noticed anything but flies in the RESCUE Reusable Fly Trap, and this is my second year of using them.
A: Great product to trap the flies but horrible smell! We hung it in the backyard to catch the flies. I've not seen any bee in my garden.
A: Our Fly Traps shouldn't trap bees, and we've not heard of that happening. However, we're curious about the fly species you are trying to catch with our Fly Trap and want to make sure you have the right product. Please send us an email at info@rescue.com and provide photos of the flies if possible. That way we can have our entomologist take a look. Thanks for your questions!
A: Having watched trap and flies for quite some time (cigarette smoking area in garage) some will go into holes in top but not go away from hole and crawl out and fly away....BUT most will go inside and never come out. The trap is marked for "fruit flies" and mixture inside does attract most flies but not all. Mixture inside also gets old after a month or 2 and needs to be replaced. Definitely works though...
A: Once the flies are in the container they can not escape. They eventually die.
A: No. They are trapped. The container continues to fill with insects.
A: this trap is garbage Get a sticky strip
A: Debbie, NO , one way door, come in and NO way out
A: Our trap and the one I got for our neighbor started catching the next day, but they really started piling in after a few day. We have had ours going for about a week now, and there is already about an inch solid mass of dead flies floating and MANY other live ones still buzzing around. Again, it has only been about a week now.
A: They work very well
A: I filled the water in as the direction of use and hung it in my backyard, many were trapped in two weeks. It's a great product to catch the flies but it smells horrible.
A: I bought one and it does work. Solution inside takes a while to get "ripe". Some flies will not go into trap but many will. Give it time....used solution provided, right??
A: re-read your in instruction, you may have missed the part about the opening for the flies to crawl into !
