Change in Formula???
I have been purchasing this item and its refills for many years and use it for my bathrooms, closets, broom closets and storage closets as well as under the sink area. In the past it was not scented.
Something has changed. First every single refill's pebbles solidified in a hard mass. Neither one started absorbing moisture as a result.
Second: Arm & Hammer added a scent to the product. This scent competes with certain areas, i.e. the potato storage area and certainly in the bathrooms and closets. The scent is obnoxious. I will return all 10 of them as they are not doing their job.
So disappointed of the change.

ChratHB - The main ingredient in the moisture absorber is calcium chloride, which is a type of salt. It is a compound, and the formula does not change. It is available in a variety of scents and also in fragrance free options. The granules are influenced by variables in the area such as temperature, air flow, and overall humidity level, even within the same house. If the granules have formed a hard mass, they are still working to absorb moisture and should not be broken apart or thrown away. Give it some time, the mass will dissolve but may take several weeks. Why don’t you ask me about the arm and Hammer with the bag and hook that you hang up I had to throw everyone of them out I would put them up for five days and the salt from the top would all drop to the bottom of the bag and form a clump in the liquid

CAROLANN - We apologize that you are not satisfied with our product. It is normal for the crystals to harden and join together in a clump in the top before dissolving. The crystals can also sometimes re-solidify in the bottom. If the perforated holes are too large and the crystals completely fell through, this should not have happened. If anyone has doubts, this product works. I keep them in my storage building because I want to keep my things in good condition and not mold in case of heavy rains. These moisture absorbers work great!

Although I can't notice any odor elimination, the item is definitely absorbing water. There is some built up in the container, but I still have a month or so to go before the crystals dissolve and I can change it. I will continue to buy the refills going forward though.
