If I could give this 0 stars I would. Dawn is still the best dish soap to clean almost anything including dishes, but with this new scent it has become the worst thing ever. Really. The. Worst. Thing. Ever. It simply stinks. It's actually nauseating. and then the odor lingers in my kitchen and on the dishes, even when I over-rinse them. Please, get rid of all scent. I want to keep using this, but I am going to have to stop.

I've been using this for maybe a decade and buy the large bottles only a couple times a year. I recently opened a new bottle, purchased 4/24/2024. This product is now unusable for me because the fragrance change, as far as I can tell, is identical to the dog shampoo I've bought. I honestly cannot stand over a sink that smells like I'm giving the dogs a bath and want to put my dishes in there. Ew!!! I'm going to buy something else. Even if Dawn works the best the smell is absolutely repellant to me now.

I loved dawn dish soap, last couple of years I've noticed it doesn't clean the way it use too. I've tried all the different dawns, my dishes come out greasy. I've even boiled water, used more soap, and I get greasy. Don't know what has changed, now I'm looking for something else.

I have avoided Palmolive for decades for a similarly overpowering scent profile. This product change concerns me about residue putting off flavors in food or beverage. I'm dropping use of this product.

The new scent is gross! I will be switching to a different product. It is too floral and sweet, ugh. Just GROSS! Why change a good thing?

I've been buying Dawn for years. I always felt it was a better quality soap. Recently I feel I've had to use more for each wash than in it past. But the biggest issue I've run into is the scent. It's such a strong, perfume scent and it's getting absorbed into my cups, bowls etc but mainly absorbed into my baby's bottles. He's started refusing the bottle of milk because the scent is so strong and won't go away even after sanitizing them. I'm extremely disappointed especially since I have a huge refill bottle of Dawn to get through. Waste of money. Won't be buying again.

I love dawn soap but the new scent is absolutely awful and I can’t use the product. Not only does it smell bad when using it, it lingers on dishes and smells and tastes like the fragrance. I hope Dawn will communicate about this and go back to the old fragrance. If this was a cost saving measure it wasn’t worth it! I can’t use my brand new bottle

Terrible scent plus lower quality, hands dried out completely. Clearly you have cut the quality and were hoping we would not notice. The new fragance reminds me of another cheaper product but I cannot recall its brand name. Definitely will look to other brands

Bought two 90oz jugs of Dawn Platinum Advanced Power at our local club store and was sad to find this product now has an overpowering new scent. Checked the label and see it says “New & Improved Fresh Scent”. This scent bothers our whole family and it smells like we’re washing our dishes in cheap laundry detergent. We’ll be taking this back to the store and from other reviews it sounds like they’ve also changed original Dawn scent, so I’ll be on the hunt for a new product. I’ve loved Dawn since I started using it in the 90s, so this is a sad day.

I have used Dawn my entire adult life but the new scent is so strong I now need to search for a different option. It makes my hands smell like perfume.

Hate the new scent. Sickening strong smell. Don’t fix something that’s not broke.

Dawn dish soap Clean Scent smells so bad. It’s a mix of heavy strong disgusting body odor smell combined with cheap quality soap smell. It does not rinse away on the dishes and the smell lingers.

The detergent works well but the “refreshing rain” scent has an overwhelming chemical smell. I prefer the original Dawn.

We miss the classic Dawn dish washing soap. The new “Clean Scent” formulation has a strong, lingering perfume-like smell that is very unpleasant. I honestly think that the smell is reminiscent of the blue liquid found in Porto-potties or the disinfectant “cakes” used in urinals. I have used Dawn for 56 years, but just threw this new bottle in the trash. Please bring back the classic scent!

Been a Loyal customer for years but the new scent is terrible stays on my pans and dishes and i can even taste it in my food.Now I have to explore new brands

I used dawn platinum on a spot on my brown leather sofa and it took the color out! I have used dish soap on my sofa before and never had any issues!!!! My sofa is ruined!!!

I hate the new clean scent. Dawn Customers only want the Original Blue Formula. DITCH THE REST. It's the original blue formula that keeps me a faithful customer. 💙 Love the original scent.

EXTREMELY DANGEROUS for ppl tht have sensitive hands! I was using gain dish soap to wash my dishes and this NEVER happened! I washed dishes twice and my hands are all torn up! I have more than 10 cuts!!!

I buy this all the time but lately noticed that it doesn’t last long, doesn’t clean as well. I have to continue adding more liquid to wash my dishes. Have you changed the formula?

Does work on oil. Spilled it on my counter and I scrubbed it off with dawn dish soap.

The "Fresh Scent" is so overwhelming that I may never buy this product again. Why take something that works so well (the best dishwashing liquid ever) and completely ruin it by making it smell like a 15 year old boy who just bathed in Axe Body Spray?

This new scent reminds me of diaper cream from 15 years ago. I think I’m going to throw away this huge Costco sized bottle because no one in my family can stomach the smell, and we all know teenagers don’t need an extra reason not to do dishes.

Updater ‘refreshing rain scent’ is not refreshing at all. The scent seems to be a floral perfume scent that is really awful. Please bring back the old refreshing rain scent.

Waste of money. I thought this detergent would be stronger than other versions but it’s the same thing or worse. Not even leaving plates on the sink overnight would it work hard. You will have to do a lot of scrubbing to get grease out. Also, the cap makes you waste a lot of product.

I have been using Dawn Platinum for over a year. Amazing improvement over other Dawn brands I’d used in the past. All was well till a bought a new bottle. The previous scent was fine but now that scent is overwhelming. I can’t use it to wash my hands as the smell stays on my skin. Why wreck a top notch produce with unnecessary smell. Please wind it back!

I have used this for years. I recently purchased a new bottle and was was immediately hit by this horrible odor...the bottle l Iisted the refreshing rain scent... NOTHING on the bottle listed NEW scent or formula. I am very disappointed because this soap works amazing, but I will need to find a new brand because I shouldn't want to gag while doing my dishes. Plus, you CANNOT get the smell off of your hands. Soooo Gross!

I’m not much of a “recommends products to people” type of guy, but one of the few exceptions has always been the dawn platinum for its genuinely superior cleaning ability—it’s something that I am very quick to mention to people and recommend over more expensive products or time intensive home-made cleaners. However. The new refreshing rain scent formulation has made it near impossible for me to keep the hand wash dishes clean in our house lately. The second I flip open the bottle, that pungent perfume makes my stomach churn, and if I was more than two dishes at a time, I unfailingly develop a headache. While I am *somewhat* sensitive to the scents of household products, I can usually just scrunch up my nose in distaste and power through it. The new formulation for the Refreshing Rain scent makes me feel physically ill, though. I’m so disappointed, too. I used to buy this scent because it *didn’t* bother me as much as the papaya or apple. Now I have paid for this huge bottle of soap that I do NOT want to use, which I wouldn’t have even bought if I’d known the scent had changed. If there was at least a sticker on the front or something on the label, I would have smelled it in the store and known to steer clear.

They’ve changed the “refreshing rain scent” recently. It’s over powering and terrible now. This is the only dish soap I’ve bought during the last decade, and I’m about to throw my brand new bottle in the trash and look for a new brand. Dawn has lost my business. Horrible.

This is my favorite dishwashing liquid and the only one I buy anymore. Nothing else works as week for me. Cuts grease so easily.

you only need drops of this soap, it’s amazing!! you can save so much money by purchasing this soap. i have had the same bottle for 3 months and i cook 3 meals a day, so lots of dishes!!
