Don’t buy this. Google cust. serv. troubleshooted for over 1hr. It’s a little over 1yr old. Warranty expired. Google won’t replace it & said I need to purchase a new 1. Like many others have stated, it’s now reading 101° indoors. It’s truly 66°. It’s warm to the touch & seems to be overheating. The malfunction happened in the middle of the night & caused my AC to run when it was 30° outside. I haven’t done anything to cause this, & it’s not located near any heat source, appliances, etc.

Worked for 1 year but now in the middle of January it’s not heating to set temp and I’m freezing in my own home. Unacceptable for the price I paid. Waste of money. JUNK. I’m angry I have to buy yet another thermostat. I get a little heat when I reset it 3x a day. I’ve factory restored it, read hours worth of useless articles in help/support section, nothing works. It even said to shut off schedules and use as a regular thermostat but that doesn’t work.

The worked with my Lennox Furnace and AC. Its approx 19 years old. I wasn't aware you needed a special-order bracket if your wiring uses a standard electrical box. I was able to retrofit the existing Honeywell Lyric Round back plate so it worked out ok. Its hard to see but I attached it.

This thermostat was great until it hit the two year mark. The unit was saying our house temperature was 87° even though it was set to 70°. Restarting it and factory resetting didn’t do anything. We took it off the wall and it was extremely hot to the touch. Google chat support couldn’t trouble shoot the issue and told me to purchase a new thermostat instead. Save yourself the time and money and purchase a different product or a different brand.

We purchased the Google nest in Aug 2022, few months ago it stopped working, keep saying cannot find network to connect to and we are unable to work it from our phone, which is the most important factor when you buy a thermostat. We tried reaching out to Google support but no luck. Never in my life, I couldn't reach out to a company to advise them on their defect product and not being able to get a replacement one. Yes, we will trash it and buy another thermostat NOT Google nest for sure. We will make sure to go to all channels and put a review everywhere so no one will have to go through it like us.

This product caused a lot of issues in my home. I kept on trying to figure out who CHANGED the settings! When I set it for 72 in the winter it would change itself to 65! At first I thought it was because it would regularly loose WiFi connection. So I blamed myself, however than I found it occurred even when there was no interruption in the WiFi. So after fighting with it for many frustrating moments to try to touch-change the hold button I discovered that it can only hold for a few hours!!!

If you like fighting with electronics here it is. You will burn up in the summer bc I set the temp for 74 it changes itself to 78 I go back change to 74 it changes to 78 an so on and the app doesn’t work junk

Very easy to use. Very impressed it has a walkthrough video with photos. Anyone even with no skills in this area could easily hook it up. Works great. Looks super nice. And works as it’s supposed too. Also many Wi-Fi options for controls and such. Overall very pleased.

Well, on Christmas eve-eve, our older Nest thermostat decided to lose its brain and stop functioning. No big deal except it was -7° F outside! I went to Home Depot the next day (Christmas eve, thankfully they were open) and purchased the Google Nest thermostat. I was affordable and easy to install. My older setup had only 4 wires, but this thermostat, altough it worked, was complaining about low voltage and no "C" (common) wire. Luckily there were xtra conductors tucked in the wall box so I connected one of the extras to "C" both on the thermostat base and on the furnace controller. This fixed the voltage issue. I prefer the older model as it had a rotating ring to control, this has touch sensors on the right hand side that take a bit to get used to. This does not work with the Nest app, but instead works with the Google Home app. I find the app simple to use. I have not enabled the learning features, as I want to control my home temperature. Overall a great product!

Old Nest finally went out after 8 years. Purchased this as a replacement.

Easy to install per directions. Easy to operate through Google Home. Looks good, too.

Nest tstat has been installed for about 30 days. It is mounted in living room within 30' of wifi router. Other than being monumentally frustrating to set up & configure, it consistently goes "offline" and the local temp plummets, in Chicago in December. Eco mode should be removed, it is a non intuitive cluster. Fortunately, I kept previous Honeywell tstat just in case. I do NOT recommend The Nest t stat

I had 2 3rd generation nest installed at my home. it worked good. now both battery is dead, it can't be replaced as per Google. It's 3 years now and there is no warranty. waste of $600 ,for nest and 150 for installation. What a waste to make a product with battery which can't be replaced?

Excellent standalone thermostat upgrade that is quick and easy to install. Simple direct input controls along with google home app control. (Side note it does not work with the nest app or additional nest sensors)

Great product. It is very effective and easy to use. I only give it 4 stats because we bought 2 and the upstairs one keeps disconnecting from the home app. Which is very irritating to go upstairs to restart the device. Wifi is strong with a extender sitting right next to it. Other than that issue, I'd give it 5 stars

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m a huge fan of Google Nest products and most of our smart home system is on their stack. I had the Nest Thermostat E at another home before installing the Gen2, and it was interesting to see the differences. Installation wise, the two products are nearly identical. As with other Nest products, it was easy to follow the instructions. We just unscrewed the old thermostat, snapped in the 5 coloured wires, screwed it back on and everything turned on. The battery started charging and Google directed us to the website to download the app to complete the rest of the setup. Compared to the E, this thermostat is about 10% larger and thicker. Instead of a frosted white surface it’s a mirror finish. The thermostat uses a touch screen instead of a dial. Some things are nicer for this, but I really liked the tactile click and turn of the E. Compared to Gen1, 2 is supposed to be smaller, and the newer version that’s out is even thinner (but still thicker than the E) I like the Nest as a thermostat but do find I end up turning off some of the auto scheduling. If you manually override any settings, it tends to learn weird preferences. I see some other negative reviews about it – I don’t really use this feature, so I’m still happy with the product for being able to remotely manage the thermostat, and for general ease of setup and use. Unless you’re actively repainting or fixing your house, I recommend getting the trim plate in case your old thermostat is not exactly the same size. Between the Nest E and Nest, I find the E good enough for most cases, but the fact the new Nest supports the sensors is something I'll be looking into further.

Not only is it so much better than the standard one we had before, it has exceeded my expectations! The new design is so sleek and modern, it really elevates all home thermostats. It is almost like a statement piece of art on the wall, so elegant. I love the fact that if we are away, it knows to adjust the heat and when we come home, we can make sure our house is a comfortable temperature for us to come home too. The Google Nest also tells us what devices are on and in which room they are on in which is a great added feature I had no idea about. My husband had a little bit of difficulty installing the Nest because we have a more complicated heating system that needed a passcode to bypass the typical install, but once troubleshooting and explaining the issue with the Google help team, he was able to fix the problem. I'm so happy that we finally got the Google Nest Thermostat! If you are trying to become a more energy efficient household that also appreciates gadgets that are multifunctional, the Nest is the perfect purchase for you!

My current thermostat was very dated and I experienced yearly issues with it. The Nest Thermostat is a huge upgrade and was very easy to install and is so easy to use. I highly recommend this Nest Thermostat to all homeowners!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The G2 Nest Thermostat has an incredible amount of features in a little circle and it looks great on the wall also. It is small and sleek and the chalk color blends in light colored walls. Pictures of the mirrored dial really do not do it justice; the mirror actually allows the G2 to blend into the surroundings. The screen is blank except when you are changing the temperature which helps it blend in even more. The thermostat is so easy to install, I am convinced anyone can do it themselves in less than 20 minutes. It took me less than 15 mins. Downloading the app was quick and easy on my iPhone. The app provided clear and detailed instructions for insulation and set up. Each step had a description of what to do as well as a picture/diagram. The actual thermostat had simple pinch connections for the wires thus eliminating the need to use a screwdriver to install the wires. It even has a small level embedded in the back to help on the install. The app is packed with feature to control the thermostat from multiple schedules to remote control from anywhere to alerts for things like filter changes. The app also will suggest setting and schedule changes although we have a pretty stable routine, it looks like our setting (days, times and temperatures) look good to Google. Even controlling the thermostat manually is cool, you change the temperature by running your finger along the side. This is my second smart thermostat, the first was a different brand, and the Nest G2 is head and shoulders above my first. Not only is the design much nicer, the app is considerably more intuitive, easier to navigate and much simpler to control the thermostat settings. Google did an outstanding job designing and putting the app together on this thermostat.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my new nest! As soon as I opened the box, I was super impressed with the design. The mirrored glass design is gorgeous! Setting up the google home app was simple! Installing the actual nest was also super simple and the app helped me along the way to ensure everything was set up properly. Within a half hour my nest was ready to go! This thermostat is so much more accurate then my last thermostat. I love that I can use it with my Alexa, it is super convenient! On the nest, it displays the date, time, temperature outside as well inside. I also love that I can control the temperature right from my phone. One of my favorite features is that I can set a daily schedule for the heat, how amazing is that! If you are looking for a new thermostat, I definitely recommend the Google Nest!

The Nest G2 is an absolute perfect addition to our home! I am amazed at how accurate the thermostat is and so many features. I really like that it shows outside weather. It senses when you come near it and turns on. It changes colors to when the heat is on so you know that the furnace is firing. It’s so easy to set the temp from my phone or change any of the great features. You can run many schedules that you control or it is set with defaults for your convenience. It’s great to have the ECO mode to save energy. Super easy to install and download the google app for total control. The app can also control your entire home. Works with voice control. Very well made! Can’t wait to get more google home control items!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have one of the earlier generation of Nests. This is Nest G2 is fantastic. As with the previous products, the install was easy. Videos online are great in case you're not feeling particularly confident. I like the lower profile nature of this version as well as the mirror finish. The app is simple and intuitive to use. I know there are quite a few other 'smart' thermostats now, Nest sets that bar and continues to be my favorite for it's simplicity and design.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This took me about 8 minutes to install and 6 minutes of that was figuring out which fuse to flip so I didn't electrocute myself. It's super cool, the side of the thermostat is a bazel and tapping the side is a button press. We will have to paint to cover the old thermostat's footprint but that's easy enough. Love it!

This updated version is just awful to use. Sometimes you leave things as they are when they are fine. This updated version is very hard to use. Instead of the dial rotating you slide your finger on the outside of the disk Not easy to do. You set up is through app only. The wiring is very temperamental. I had the wires connected and no errors but the heat would not go on. After two hours with the nest tech and re seating the wires three times it finally worked. I did not get an error message like the old model. Also the nest room sensors do not work with this new version. Home depot sold them both to me today and the nest tech had no idea either until he contact level 2 support to tell me that the don't work and they are coming out with new sensor next month. Buy their older version if you can find one. I am going to and return this junk.. And of course the back plate of the older model does not work with this so called upgrade because that would make sense.

If you’ve ever used the Nest Learning Thermostats you will be extremely disappointed with this model. I have 3 Nest Learning Thermostats (and at one point had the less expensive “E” version) and everything about this one is significantly cheaper in comparison. There is no turning dial, the screen is really just a small square and you can see the borders in the display (see photo), and the Google home app is far inferior to the Nest app. Even when you adjust the temperature the new sound it makes is irritating. I really hope this isn’t the path that Nest thermostats are heading and that this iteration is just a fluke. I had intended to switch over my mom’s old simple thermostats with this one because of a rebate offered by our electric company, but she’s in her 60’s and the lack of a dial would make adjusting the temperature much too difficult. As far as the C wire debate: in my experience the C wire is not needed when your thermostat controls both heating and cooling. In some cases when the thermostat controls ONLY heating or ONLY cooling then a C wire may be needed.

It took me much longer to set up than I anticipated. I have a Honeywell thermostat and decided to update with this one and like being able to control it from an app. I hooked it up and nothing. I couldn't get it to scan that miniscule QR code with my phone. I didn't realize also that the code to enter manually is on that same QR code. When I finally got the display it gave me error code E260 which is no power to Y1. Basically it meant my furnace wouldn't turn on. I re-hooked up the old thermostat to make sure the furnace would still work and it worked fine. I came close to returning the Nest thermostat at this point. My thermostat only contains 4 wires so there isn't a common wire. I found out that you can run the green wire to the common. (One video showed that you had to change the green on the furnace also). I didn't have to do the latter. It seems to work fine so far. I'm running it either manually or with the Google Home app and just tell it to turn on/off the heat. I can also just say " Hey Google" turn the heat up to 70 or such. I work from home so I don't think I'd really use the Nest app that much anyway. Another thing that I don't like is that it doesn't come with the back plate to cover up the area where the old thermostat was. If you want that you have to order the .50 piece of plastic for $14.99. Really? Thankfully my utility company is currently offering a $75 rebate or I probably wouldn't have tried this. I think I will like it in the long run though. Don't throw away your old thermostat though just in case and take a picture of your wiring diagram before you take it apart.

I have a nest personally at my home and love it. I have used it for a few years now and have started by adjusting it manually all the time, to now I just let it adjust itself, and it has worked great.
