My family was really concerned about me replacing the front porch columns by myself. This product made is so simple. I used a pressure treated 4x4 to have it last well after I am gone and otherwise all I needed was stuff I already had; a miter saw, caulk-gun, mallet, plumb, a post level, tape measure, pencil, and a nail gun. It was a six hour job that went very smoothly. My family... well lets say the only problem I have is now they think I can do anything.
Used WTRD0636HENKHD railing.

Very easy assembly, look very nice. Comes with adhesive and great instructions. You have to use a brad nailer or finishing nail gun, a hammer will not work.

Not bad for a DIY porch post
Did this in an hour and a half only because I needed to use a saw to cut to size and I had to use someone else’s. To be honest, the directions are a little confusing but it’s not hard to figure it out on your own.

Wrap Column - get what you pay for
I needed to install new column post on my porch. Didn't want to spend a lot on column so decided on getting 4x4 pressure treated post and wrap the 4x4.... After making the purchase, I started reading the installation guide on wrapping the 4x4. This did not clearly state how to install, mount to 4x4,etc... Then I notice Instructions/Assembly guide so I open this, not sure what the difference is between these two documents but they do not seem align with each other. The wrap does not fit tightly against the 4x4, so you do need to use blocks. Instructions say 5x3 1/2 Block, another customer review said it was cut wrong 4" vs 5". In my cause the 5" is too big because their is an extra inch attached to the back already.... This extra 1" piece is not seen in the pictures in installation guide, so again baffled on how this is installed... I choose to add 4" blocks to help stabilize the wrap, this created a slight gap joining the corners.

Surface Defects and Wrong Install Kit
One side of the 2 PermaWrap square columns had surface defects. Both packages had the install kit pieces cut to the wrong length (4 in vs 5 in). Make sure you spend an extra $20 for a piece of PVC molding.

An absolute bargin I have used this product for many years. I am upset you have decided to no longer carry it. It was the best price period. No one could compete on price and quality.

Blocks are not 5" x 3.5"
This project was difficult because the blocks noted in instructions as being 5" x 3.5" were only 3.5" x 3.5". There were other issues as well and (2) post wraps took much longer than expected to complete. Not happy with product.

It was not delivered on the day it should have been. Then it was delivered damaged. I had to call for it to be returned and it was set up three different days before it was picked up after I called the Covington La store numerous times. I finally got a manager which made sure it was picked up the third day. This should never have been left at my house damaged.

Not the easiest to work with. Difficulty with the caulk and doing/filling screw indents for final trim. Had to buy special
Paint as it’s vinyl.

So far so good. Product presents well and time will tell if it holds up. We did not make structural change to existing posts. Because of this, our contractor added extra moulding and wood in small gaps to create a streamlined connection from upper post to porch overhang - so the posts look like a solid structure top to bottom. The wraps help balance the scale of the home/porch and the material should be durable. The original wood/metal posts (now beneath) were thin and birds liked to peck away at the paint for calcium during extended snow periods.

Great product at a great price. Unfortunately, HD does not let you order this or deliver it so you have to depend on them having it in stock and in the right quantities. I had to drive an hour to get my needed five since no local stores had it and there wasn't a way to order or have it shipped/delivered. But the price made it worthwhile and it includes the wraps, the top and bottom trim pieces, mounting blocks and adhesive/caulk. All you need is a stapler/nailer or trim nails and hammer and a saw if needed to cut to fit if the main portion is too long. Cuts easily with a jigsaw. Looks great when finished. Just like the picture. HD price was half of everyone elses for this product. Similar products require separate purchase for all the bits and pieces.

Looks nice, easy to install BUT NOT LOAD BEARING
This is a wrap that goes around a load bearing post of some kind. It is easy to install and looks nice when done, but if you need something that is load bearing, this is not it. It does say so on the packaging, and you'll need a post to bear the weight of the roof.

It read as a wrap for 6” beam but actually it’s a 4” beam. I had to return it.

Very weak pvc material.
Beside of very weak material it comes with too much glue in the corner that when you try to wrap the pots you can’t put the corners together because the dried glue.

These are easy to install. I had to cut them w a circular saw to make them shorter but any hand held saw would have worked. I put them around round poles so had to use included brace pieces but it was simple to hypoxy those on to metal pole. Also used nail gun for added stability. Glue is included in kit.
