These tiles make my new house a home
I am so glad I picked these tiles to put in my home. It was agonizingto pick which tiles to pick with all the options available on the internet. I knew that I wanted the warm color of saltillo, but seriously considered saltillo ceramic look- a -like. There are several out there. After seeing a home with these in it I decided to just do these ones. I had tiled a bathroom 20 years ago with saltillo tiles. These tiles were not as uniform as the Home Depot tiles that I just purchased. These tiles are clay and manufactured in Mexico. The quality of the seemed very good. We had 6 broke out of 550 tiles. This was just over 1% breakage. There were a couple that had a serious bend to them that I choose not to use because the home depot return policy is excellent. The tiles come with a sealer put on in the factor. For some reason this was not totally clear to me. When I got them wet with the tile saw the moisture beaded up on top. In the grouting process I was glad to have that protection on the tiles. In the box came very good directions on how to treat the grout lines, which didn't take as long as I thought it would. I choose the best matte sealer I could find so that I would only have to do this once. . If you want ease of installation, and a ceramic tile with small grout lines do not buy these. We spent altogether 70 hours putting in the 550 square feet. And that was total hours for me, my son, and another friend. The grout color I choose was a sanded light grey. I wanted a neutral color , but the near black really looks good too. There are various instruction videos on utube to watch on grouting that are helpful. The grouting of the 1/2 inch lines is what takes awhile. It was a big job, but in a small house it is great to have these tiles on the entire first floor. It expands the space and gives my home a warm feeling. Right now the tiles are covered up for the insulation, drywall and paint. I can't wait to see the house done.

Love This Tile!!
This is True Mud tile that you find in every adobe house or southwest home. It is easy to install, easy to clean and extremley fun to work with!. It adds that southwest charm to my northwest home :) If you find broken peices you can either return them or as I've chosen to do is create 12"x12" show peices in the flooring, its a great outlet to be creative!! Wish Home depot still carried this tile in store but glad to get more of it online with FREE SHIPPING!! Did My bedroom in this 3 years ago and now doing my deck! PeggySue

Not a ceramic tile!!!!
My contractor opened a box and I directly called to send the product back. It is NOT a ceramic tile. Not only that, but it is sealed and has a shiny finish, not a smooth finish as described. It is a clay tile. Period.
