Customer Reviews for The Home Depot 19 in. Plastic Portable Tool Box with Metal Latches and Removable Tool Tray

After three years, I saw online that my local store finally had limited quantities of the Homer Box, so I went and bought the only one they had. It is clearly not the same box. The mold is different, the latches are plastic, and the tray is only 2/3 the width of the interior. The volume is less than the older version. The new box also has interior reinforcement flanges that further reduce the volume. Not the box I expected, and I will not buy another.

I've bought a lot of gear but this is the worst $10 I have ever spent. Open the toolbox lid and the stench of a Chinese plastics factory hits you in the face. It is not the smell of a new item that will go away after it is aired out. It is honestly toxic smelling. Some desperate people to sell something like this on the American market. Thanks for nothing Home Depot. Spend more money and definitely buy it in-store in person. This is wrong. Don't know if I would even take it if it were free. I was counting on this box to haul my tools with me for a cross-country trip to Cali. It will stink up my whole van!

I was looking to buy the right toolbox for myself for a very long time till I saw this one. The size is just perfect and it can nicely keep all my tools organized. Seems pretty durable and you can even use a lock to protect your tools.

This is a good storage box but not meant to last forever or hold heavy items. The box is good overall, however, the back hinges come lose everytime and dont hold up together. I hold my everyday tools ans finit easy to store it in my closet

I buy this for my wife and all her tools fit in the box.

Very durable, and cost efficient tool box! "Husky" had a similar toolbox that was 3" shorter and was more expensive. I will most likely buy one or two more no doubt. Highly recommend!

When opening, the top flops all the way back and becomes unhinged. Tried to fix but it continued to become unhinged. The price is good but it’s still too much for something that doesn’t work properly.

Huge improvement over the glorified sack that our tools came with. Allows us to organize our household toolkit (cordless drill included) and access both small and large tools quickly and easily, with room for more, so we're quite satisfied with this purchase. It even fits on the shelves in our small apartment's linen closet! I didn't expect the "Homer Box" label on the top because it's not in the pictures, but that's not a big deal.

I used this to store cake decorating tools. It is spatious. The tray insert is useful for smaller items. I love that it can be locked so my kids don't play with my tools. The price was amazing. Can't beat it.

Bought this tool box to house two of my DeWALT Li-ion battery powered cordless tools: a DCS391B 6-1/2 inch circular saw and a DCD771C2 1/2 inch drill along with two 20V-MAX batteries, saw blades and drill bit set. It did take some trials to find the perfect orientation of the circular saw to fit inside the box as the saw has irregular dimensions. With the tool tray removed, the lid could be easily closed and latched without any difficulty. I find this sturdy tool box a very cost effective way to store and carry these two portable tools.

I am a dental hygienist. I care for dental patients in nursing home facilities. This tool box is easy to carry, grip handle and lightweight.

This was used to house electronic equipment in a pole barn. Mounted it vertical after running cables thru the bottom. You can never loose the lid. Worked GREAT!

I keep this box in the back of my explorer.. has enough room for a Rachet Set, My Rigging Knife,Gloves, Channel Lock Pliers, Vise Grip Plier, and assorted hand tools that come with me from the truck to the sailboat i'm restoring... after an afternoon of working on the boat, everything comes back with me in case I need to fix something at home. The lift out Tray keeps thing organized.. Great little toolbox!!

The tool box is light and durable for an inexpensive price. I have one that I have used for ten years and it still does the job!

This is a great inexpensive toolbox, but the top metal latches can fall off the box while the lid is open and upside down. The top latches slide into a groove and are not permanently affixed to the box. My tool box now only has one latch working, because one of the top metal latches fell off while the box was open and I can not locate it. No big deal, just be careful, replacement latches are not available at Home Depot!

Im not a mechanic or handyman, but it suites my needs i bought for all the tools i have laying around the house so it would be more convenient then having took look all around for what you need. great tool box i would definetly recommend this!

Bought 2 of these to go with my homers and they are a little cheaper built. I don't load these down just use for small elect tools to be organized. They work great for my use. I just mark the contents on the visable end with a sharpie.

This box is great i use 2 hold the extra parts i have from my 4 Cordless vacs i own.

The one we received was terrible. Doesn't close correctly. We even tried to exchange it, and nobody has a replacement.

We liked the first one well enough to return and purchase a second plastic portable tool box. A+++

Great value. I use these boxes for pvc parts and those supply items that I use making repairs. Helps to keep the truck organized.

I've bought plenty of the orange Homer Toolboxes over the years. Now Home Depot re-labels it and jacks the price up 250%.
