Purchased a casement window to be installed in our kitchen. The salesman who came to our house was good and understood our needs. The window was supposed to be cheaper than the model we looked at, but installation cost twice as much as the window itself. It took more time than we expected to get the sales visit set up, the measurements, and installation, with 2-3 weeks between each event. The window is OK--we went with a basic window, no frills or extras, so it's serviceable. The installation is mostly OK, but they added some extra pine trim to the interior of the window frame so our blinds no longer fit and we need to order a new set. We had an issue where the window was binding upon opening, which they said is kind of common with the manufacturer, but it took a while to get someone to call back to set up the appointment to fix it. Customer service called for a survey, and only after I gave them a 1 for service did they arrange to send someone out. After seeing all of the people involved in the process--salesman to the house, call center, guy coming to re-measure the window, 2 guys to install, more call center conversations--it's no wonder the installation price is so much. A lot of overhead to pay for. And not a lot of benefits to the customer for this bloated system.

The estimate was given correctly, the job scheduled and finished well, and we have good, solid, weatherproof windows now.
