If you DON'T have to go here, don't. better selection and organization along with helpful employees can be found at other homedepot stores. Furthermore, I was charged seven cents for a bag that my purchase did not require. The store is in disarray and the parking lot is just as bad. Finally, the 10.5% sales tax is crazy. I make large purchases at Indiana stores. Only 7% there.

My "home" Home Depot. And easily the most all-around approachable and friendly staff of the several Home Depot locations I frequent in Chicago. I've gotten great service from Julian, Ana, Bernadette, Evelyn, Ezzy, & Martha. Thanks everybody.

If I could I would give my user experience for this Home Depot location negative stars, I would. As spring comes around my sister and I were planning on doing something nice for our mother and completely redoing her room. Paneling, ceiling, paint, doors, tiles. A real DYI for two generations of women to do. Now, we did get some help from my sister's boyfriend but only minimal in picking the supplies we would need. We started today at Home Depot. Spending over 400 ($415.23) on supplies. Paint, brushes, plaster, etc. Just a starter pack and we were planning on coming back for more supplies. In total we were planning on spending a little over 3k on our mother's room just in repairs. BUT we will never be coming back to this Home Depot location again. We had the worst experience. After being rung up and spending over $400 we were stopped at the door (as usual) to get our receipt checked (highlighted?). the individual at the door decided that she would go over each item on the list. Which I don't remember EVER happening during past trips. There were 28 ITEMS on our receipt. She goes over EACH ONE. She starts pulling items OUT, telling my mother and sister that she can't find these items. Even though we were just rung up moments ago. THREE security guards surround us. She it taking out item after item, having us stand there for well over 20 minutes while people gawk and stare. I'm not sure if anyone else has a parent over the age of SIXTY but they really do not enjoy standing while security harasses them for 20 minutes and strangers are staring. In the end she found that a paint pan and paint stick had not been rung up properly. Totaling in or around 12 dollars. Now I am not sure what her reasoning was for this. If it was because we are minorities or if its because my sister's boyfriend is not the same race as us or if she was just having a bad day BUT in the end it was HOME DEPOTS who handled this ENTIRE situation very poorly. There was NO reason why they should have let customers who had paid out over 400 dollars stand there for TWENTY MINUTES over something so silly. And in the end the only effect this will have is HOME DEPOT losing out on the thousands of dollars we were planning on spending there on dry wall, panelling, tile, paint, decorations, etc. I would not recommend anyone going to the HOME DEPOT on 4555 S Western. Horrible customer experience.

Is very convenient not to have to drive 8 to 30 miles to pick up supplies to haul back home. but this store does not have the best inventory that I have seen. I have seen better inventories at other Home Depot stores

This is a very convenient location to find. I have been here a few times and so far my experience is good. Store staffs are friendly and helpful. The one name I have to mention is Ms. Ann in the flooring and window department. She is patient, knowledgeable of their products, and very sweet. I was doing a blinds/shapes project for my house and came to Home Depot for an estimate. Ms. Ann spent her time with me to give me an estimate based on my own measurement, explained to me how it worked if i would customize the products from Home Depot, the cost and possible extra cost, recommended me products based on my need and budget, and showed me all the samples i asked to see. I finalized my order with Ms. Ann and I am very happy with this experience.

Friendly environment

Every time I shop there, I'm greeted by a friendly person at the door! I have never had a bad experience here.

Store was very organized clean and great shelve orginized and great customer service.

It's hit or miss with the associates at this store. Asked a guy if he could cut some carpet for me and said he couldn't cut it as I needed. Mack , the second associate, technically he was a MET associate, I spoke with, helped me find a manager later and I described to him what I needed. The manager approved it and Mack helped me find a flooring associate to cut some carpet for me. Mack found another associate to cut what I needed. The third associate was having trouble understanding what I wanted but Mack took charge showing him how to perform the task. The third gentleman whispered 'this is why we don't do this because it takes too much time.' All I have to say is if the third gentleman knew how to use the carpet machine, knew how to use a tape measure and had even the most basic of spacial reasoning skills he would have been able to do the task alone in under five minutes. Other stores have performed this task faster and without back talk, guess you guys don't want my money. I give the manager 5 stars, Mack I give 10 if i could, I would give zero stars for the two sales associates. If it wasn't for Mack I would have left empty handed and you guys would have lost a sale. However, I will not be coming back if I need something that requires me getting help from a sales associate here. I recommend 1950, around Roosevelt and Clinton, they have the best customer service.

I really appreciate having this Home Depot store near my home. I learn something new every time I visit the store. This most recent visit was with the Paint Department and Ms. Pamela. She was not only helpful, but offered some great tips and insights on cleaning up my paint spills on wood and other surfaces that I was unaware of. Great store and great associates. Thank you. I'm waiting on some classes to increase my skills.

The parking lot is often congested. Maybe, it needs to be reconfigured to make it easier to pull in and out of parking spots.
